Brisbane Dinner 2017. (1 Viewer)

Yes they were two different WW1 Australians, one was crouching and the other was moving forward.

Luckily for me my son comes to the dinner so he gave me his.

Matt

Were there show figures this year? What about last year?

Matt,

No show figures this year just your choice of Australian WWI figures with option to purchase the second

Last year's figure was the Bronze WWI Australian Marching figure on statute base again not a show figure

Wow a much more detailed showing of the dio's. My core series of ALH, Market Garden and Zulu all represented. The train station is my personal favourite, caught sight now of the loaded goods wagons, all adding to a wonderful layout, well done Wayne and everyone for their efforts to make this a remembered night. Robin.

Thanks Wayno and Mark for the clear as day pic's, they sure highlight all the wonderful work that you blokes (and little tackers and ladies if they made any) put together for the show. A big pat on the back to you mate for the awesome train dio (Glad my old rolling stock came up a treat with your brush), to Glenn with his winning Indian waterfall dio and Toddy for his desert ruined house. It was a good effort to cart it all the way from NZ and possibly catch the eye of Oz customs on the way through! I'll be watching border force on the box mate to see if you get a mention..^&grin

Looking back through the photos, my vote for top diorama goes to to this beauty, lots of small detail, that really tells the story of this diorama.

The original concept for a Diorama comp was to encourage and entice people to participate in what we were doing, having fun making dioramas, Matt has joined our merry band because of the concept and if the wayward Toddy wasn't over the ditch he would be in like Flynn as well, Glenn's outstanding effort was a result of his long participation also. Matt's young bloke Paul is keen as mustard and often offers up good ideas and improvements to his Dad belying the idea I believe that the young are not interested in the hobby, I think any encouragement we can give the younger one's should be promoted.
Wayne.

There were cameras snapping left , right and centre all during the evening and I am a tad disappointed that those who are forum members have as yet not posted their pictures for whatever reasons as mine were very poor! I thank Mark for sending his pictures doubly so because he took them with one arm useless, the lad has to give up jumping the gallopers and stick to dioramas..:wink2:

Thanks Sammy, I had a lot of fun building it and as a Kiwi it was Wayne's suggestion I should add the sheep.^&grin

I've learned tons from attending the dinners and picked up loads of tips for dio making by that dodgy Brisbane mob.:salute::

In saying that the quality and variety of the entries was outstanding and to be fair the photographs don't do them justice.

Glen's huge waterfall was very cool and Matt's scratch built buildings were amazing!

Yeah I had a wee moment at the airport when I remembered I had a small bag of dried Kiwi sand and a small bunch of fine dead Manuka twigs in me luggage, not to mention the desert coloured dried up lichen.{eek3}:wink2:

I'd be one of those useless bums who have yet to post any dinner snaps. To be fair though some of mine look a bit frosted, like looking through the bottom of a beer mug. But I'll try and give it a go.

In other words...normal :wink2:
