Britains Durbar Question (1 Viewer)

Hi Damian,

I too would love to see another band from the Indian Army for the Durbar it would be great if they could do a mounted one from Skinners or Hoddsons Horse or any one of the Infantry Bands that were there, there were a lot of bands there so the skys the limit. So I guess we'll have to keep bugging the gentlemen from Britains right.

All the best

Dave

Yeah plug away. I like the realistic stuff but it is nice to think back on a more peaceful event. Especially one that is so clourful and if you are looking for soemting ignored by the major opposition then this is it

Hi Damian,

You dont have to worry I will keep working on the gents over at Britains to see if we can get some more Durbar items.

Here is another picture of the Viceroys Body Guard and a pair of soldiers I would like to get more information on the Skinners Horse Sergeant is marked on the bottom with the name DC Stewart the other bears no marking I can find. Anyone have any information on either of these troopers I would appreciate it.

All the best

Dave

Dave and all you other Durbar collectors,

Have you seen this UK retailer, Newbury Toys, that has lots of Britains Durbar on his site for sale? Seems expensive but expected given its a retail brick and mortar shop in the UK. I have never been to the shop but would like to visit someday.

Hi Hugh,

I actually have this site tagged but right now they dont show any of the sets I am looking for. It is however, a good place to look if you are trying to get your hands on any sets. I would recommend that anyone seeking the camel sets call them since they show they have them. I dont see these two sets too often on the secondary market let alone the retail section so they would good ones to pick up. They are pricey but then again they are all long retired so there is a bit of a trade off here.

Thanks for information and the link Hugh.

All the best

Dave

Thank you for the Durbar link, Hugh. I like the back drop. Gives me something to work on.

Yes my friend yes the evil plot thickens.:D

Do enjoy the dilema BUY IT BUY IT!

Hi KV

Here is the auction number:220089766536 iTs a buy it now or make an offer auction.

Its in the UK and he will ship to the US for 25 GBP.

You may want to check with the owners of London Bridge Toy Soldier Shop in Pennsylvania. I picked up mine from them. They have items that are not on their website so call and check to see if they have any left. 610-967-6887 or go to www.londonbridgetoys.com and they have a contact page.

All the best

Dave

Thanks a lot Dave! The total for that set is about 240.00. Do you have one? It looks massive. Do you know what they originally went for?

Hi KV,

I dont remember exactly what I dropped for this set it is a very big display which is why its still in the birthday stash. I will see if I can find naything in my notes and send you an email if I do. I would still call the guys at London Bridge and see if they have one because it might cost less especially for shipping.

All the best

Dave

I will call them but I am somewhat tempted to build something of it for my self. A facade perhaps. That treasure trove/stash probably borders the size and scope of your regular collection.

Hi KV

There is a Red fasade display posted in the photo section it looks very good and would be a good way to display the Durbar figures.

The short answer to the stash statement is pretty much yes. My wife humors me and lets me place items in there from time to time so she doesnt have to go and find them. I like being helpful that way!;)

I think she has at least 15 various sets and the most recent set she gave me is from Beau Geste so I have finally taken the plunge it to those waters.

I can tell you that I am really glad she puts up with me otherwise I'd end up with a lot of ties from the kids...:D

All the best

Dave

Hi KV,

I have to tell you that I ask myself that very question all the time! All I can say is I am a lucky guy.

Here are some more pictures for you guys to enjoy.

All the best

Dave
