Britain's Zulu War (3 Viewers)

well about the Chard,i like that he is pointing and not firiing because he is a commander and he give orders.
If you look at all british soldiers from WBritain (zulu series) there is no one, exep Chard who give orders and if it was not for him than it is look boring diorama without a comander.
I am very sad because Chard wearing the uniform like the ordinary soldier,no special helmet,or some golden stripes or anything lik ethat that will point him out from the others. So when i make diorama no body will know who is the comander.I know that he in reality wear that kind of uniform which make me a question how the real soldiers know in the heat of the battle who to listen.
If we look at the other comanders there always have more beautyfull looking uniform so everybody know who si the comander.

You'll note Ales the uniform Chard is wearing while he's firing his Martini-Henry

LT, you are just like me (perhaps all of us), you can hardly wait to play with your new figures once they arrive ;). Great acquisitions to your collection. Looking forward to many photos featuring their deployment.
Mike

Very nice LT very nice. Thank you for sharing your newest Drift additions. Is Hook not available yet?

My Hook has made his appearance Scott Britain's Hook hadn't been shipped yet. Mike I'm worst than you are they where in front of my camera ten minuets after departing from their clam shell packet. Got the figures I ask for which are very nicely done but not the poses but they'll be in the thick of things.

Upon further review...
Is Dalton's hand as big as his face?

Is this the best pose for Schiess, leaper of mealie bags, stabber of many?

On the shirtsleeved 24th, what happened to the quality of Martini-Henry?
Looks like what I carried in the war, when I was five.

Dalton's facial features really are exceptional, unless it's the same as Gen. Lee of the ACW series.
Thoughts?

The hand is much larger than it should be as seen and compared with the same loading pose as the 24th. You'll also note the quality of the Martini-Henry along with the noted differenence in the paint of the metal components. 24th in gun metal as well as the bayonet Dalton's in steel. In making a quick comparison his facial features are not the same as Lee.

The same is noted as shown of the Martini-Henry the sleeveless 24th FT is firing and the 24th Foot whose wearing his red tunic. There's also a major difference in the colour of the Foreign Service Helmet it's much lighter but none of the helmets would have been the same colour based on what was used to dye the cover.

As for Schiess I agree it isn't the best pose but he's very well done. I question the shirt he's wearing I doubt the Natal Native Contingent was issued the same shirt as the 24th rankers and he should be wearing boots his feet were blisted but he would have worn his boots as he left the hospital. Granted he received a foot wound during the fighting but it would have bend tendered to after the fighting ended.

Thanks for your observations My Lord.
One thought on the shirt...I'm not sure there was a specific undershirt issued, as debated on the RD forum a while ago...some were pullovers, some button up. But you're right, he was'nt officially issued a shirt by the Imperial Gov't.
Good catch and still wonderful pictures:)
Mike

Nice to see side by side with existing figures. Dalton does have very large hands  there also does seem to be a difference in quality control. I certainly hope WB aren't becoming complacent.
