Lt.

I tell you, these guys are fantastic posed like you have them! I can't wait for a platoon or sub-company photo. I especially like the Ossifer in the blue patrol jacket, cords and personally financed sidearm! What's his pedigree? Mike

They certainly are some great looking figures. As usual Lt many thanks for posting your pictures.

Lt.,

Can you post a photo of the new glossy Officer between two of the matte figures. I'm thinking of repainting the officer in matte if the scale isn't too far off.

thanks

Thanks Lt. I owe you one. Man, that's a big size difference. I'll have to hold out for a larger matte figure in the patrol jacket. Or perhaps, my resistance will crumble and I'll break down and buy the figure. I usually stay away from the glossy but that's a very nice figure.

I would be fairly confident you will see an extensive matte series develop over time, hopefully to include some patrol jacket clad ossifer types. With the rapid pace of some other releases these days, this slow build up is very welcome. I love these matte sets so far. Just need to get #'s 12 and 15 and 2 of the Osprey Zulus to be up to date. Should get a peek at the next 6 figs in the matte range in a couple of weeks. :)

All glossies are released this month while the last of the glossy releases was planned for this august :D You know, I preordered the glossies but am still expecting the initial matte brits  Hopefully that postal guy shows up today.

Lt.; Very nice figures. They do look very good and I am really liking the gloss figures. Should fit in right with the MZ set.
Please post all of them alongside eachother? Fighting the new glossy zulus .

Hi Joe
Questions:- How come the great discrepancy in scale between the matte and gloss? That liitle guy is a real Tiny Tom Cruise standing with his two beefy matte infantrymen and all the way down to his boot size:D
Are you not supposed to mix glossy and matte? Just curious as I never realised there was such a vast scale difference between the two series.

Reb

UKReb although he looks like a Tiny Tom Cruise in between his matte counterparts he does look quite well with the new glossies although he seems to have very skinny legs which strikes me as being slightly under scale with the trousers being over scaled but even so he's a keeper. Joachim here's a photo you requested less the Zulus.....The Lt.

Thanks Lt. A bit smallish, yes. But very nice nonetheless.

They do look great together and I don't think the glossies look out of scale with each other. If you took 5 real men and put them side by side would they all look the same ?

Guys, those glossies are winners. The scale on the Ossifer is a tad small, but does not do any damage. If you look at the old pictures of the period, and also read the medicals of the OR's, you'll find that the Officers will probably be taller and more fit than the ORs Maybe this guy was from a city and not a farm. Mike

The smaller scale of the glossies will make them work nicely with the Classic Redcoats. The WB 2008 catalog says:

"In keeping with the style of the popular Redcoats range this new Zulu War gloss series is reminiscent in size, look and feel to the originl W. Britain toy soldiers of the early 20th Century."

Classic ranges are about 52mm rather than 54mm when measured.

The Classic Redcoat 43137 is a perfect match to the others in the Zulu series:
[including the plain green base]

Mr

Great pictures as usual Lt. Say how many ZW figures do you have anyway?

Lt.
I believe you have a question posed to you that would intrigue many members. Maybe a photo of the whole house? Room? closet? Give us your best shot(estimate by rounding up to the nearest thousandths) ! Mike

I believe he has enough for the entire cast of Zulu Dawn and Zulu put together:D

Seriously, I have seen his collection in person and it is awe-inspiring. A veritable miniature museum of the War

Guys I guess it must be me then by all the posts re:- the sizing of these figures being OK with you all, but in the Lt's photo of Tom Cruise inbetween Ivor Emmanuel and Glyn Edwards he sure looks diminutive to me.
And if the difference is supposed to be only 2mm then to my eyes somebody somewhere sure has got a defective measuring implement.
