looks great! anyone know where I can buy some talent?!?!?! :wink2::wink2:

hi mike, what do you use to carve the facade from... ?

cheers
Marc

the bricks were carved from blue board foam...1/2"...the rest is made with pine and stucco patch...I'm amazed how easy...but time consuming the bricks are...I know a lot of people would like to learn to do these and I'm going to do a thread on a tutorial to show them how simple they are...the foam bricks give an amazingly realistic look when finished....and they are pretty simple...

Wow Mike ... gee, just when I think I have seen it all from you, you up the bar once again.
Really nice. I am looking forward to see how you accomplished that feat!!! --- Larry

Hey Mike ... happy Sunday!

I am going my local H.D. or Lowes and get some of the Blue Board Foam you mention, so I can follow along as you do this.
But I have a question. :rolleyes2:

What is the difference between the "Blue board" foam and the "Pink board" foam that I see used all the time in home insulation?

Is the Blue foam denser, stronger ..... ?

Thanks Mike,
--- Larry

Larry...

I buy mine at Home Depot...they will have either or both from Dow Chemical or Owen Corning...they are the same thing...

we call it foam board...they call it industrial sheathing...ask for it as industrial sheating as they will tell you they don't sell foam board...it's in the lumber section...

it comes in pink or blue...it comes in 1/2"...3/4"...and 2"...

I started making a wall today in 3/4" foam board...

I'll post some pics in a bit...it's about $9-$12 for a 4x8 sheet...you will be amazed how much you can build with a full sheet...

do you have an Exacto Razor knife?

thanks to everyone for the nice comments...

Wayne...Walt...Larry...and anyone else interested...i'm gonna post some pics and explain how easy this is if you're interested...

this is a picture of the foam board...

I live in Texas...the thickest we have is either 1/2" or 3/4"...

up North I know they have 2" and even thicker...

but it doesn't get so cold here so we don't need as thick an insulation for home building as they do up North...

I know Nicholas complains that he can't find 1/2"...as I complain I can't find 2"...so hopwfully you can find what suits you...

here is a pic of what I'm using...

Hi Mike, funny you mention the foam board, because I've been looking for the same stuff down here for ages. Have seen a few craftsman use it for TS dio's and other projects on U-tube and it looks great to play with. Thanks for the tips and look forward to seeing your thread soon.

Wonderful façade too!{sm4}

Cheers

I'm gonna make a small wall section.,..nothing fancy...nothing complicated...but the applications are endless...you can make walls as big as you want...in this picture I traced off a pattern in ink with a ruler as to what I think would be a good scale brick size for 54-60mm...

in this picture...take your razor knife and a ruler lined up on your foam where you drew your pattern and make a shallow cut...you don't have to go deep at all...probably less than my picture shows...use the ruler to guide your cut and be slow and patient...a good tip is to use a new blade as a dull blade can drag and gouge out little chunks of foam...
