Cataloging Trophy Boxers (1 Viewer)

Martin
There is definitely a market for Trophy sets.
I still need quite a few generic firing 24 th Foot for Islandwana and Black Watch for Tamai.
If Ken could start putting out limited quantities of these standard figures I am sure he would sell them.
I agree with you about the same moulds same painters etc, but so far Ken has had all the stuff for about 4 years and we have not seen anything yet.
Hopefully we will soon.

That's because he wants to do it right, Obviously there have been other commitments.

Trophy has got to be gloss, he would lose going into gloss. Then again if he tries matte and fails, maybe he will sell the line to someone who wants to do something with it and do it in gloss

One of the reasons Ken bought Trophy was to keep it together, there are a few people that would have broken up Len's pride and joy!

Wow, that is awesome that he still responds to inquiries. Truly a great individual, I wish he never would have retired.

Len Taylor is one of the nicest people you could ever hope to meet.

Martin,
Have rethought my earlier comments, I am certainly ready to give Ken a go, it would be nice to see some of the sets in circulation again.

For those interested, I have posted photos in my album of some of the Trophy Boxer sets we have been talking about. I will try to post others soon.

Lawrence: Great photos and collection! He who has the most Boxer sets wins and you definitely win.

Here is an interesting figure, I am reliably informed he is a British Navy sailor from the Naval Brigade on Legation guard from a very early Boxer set. You will note the “D” stamped in the base (Dragon Crest)

I bought him, not because of the Boxer Rebellion connection but to act as a sentry on my Nile Paddle boat.;)

I have no idea of the original set number I’m afraid

Cheers

Martyn:)

Tommy,
Thanks for the compliments, but I have to say that there are many collections out there that far exceed mine - but it sure is fun trying to complete the series!
Speaking of larger collections, saw the newest installment and am bowled over! Keep the photos coming - though Mike may want me to stop encouraging you:D
All the best, Lawrence

I just took a look at Tommy's collection and all I can say is wow! That's truly amazing. What a treat just to look at those photos. Congrats on a superb collection.

I agree, I thought I had a lot, but he blows me away. I do have a lot of the sets he has and it is nice to see and get ideas for display. BUT, there are a ton of sets that make me drool!!!

Hawkeye,

The first set is definitely the 1st Sikhs. The second set probably comes from the NWF line, because I've never seen troops in the Boxer line with green bases. The third set, by process of elimination, must be the 7th Rajputs, which were the first Allied soldiers of the relief force into the Legation Quarter. I'm still looking for a color plate of a sepoy of the 7th Rajputs to corroborate my claim.

Dave

Crud, I'm backwards. The set on top are the 7th Rajputs, and the set on the bottom is the 1st Sikhs.
