Chicago 2008 (2 Viewers)

If the cigar thing doesn't work out then maybe we all can go out for some ice cream. :)

First these cities take your guns, then your cigars, next will be ice cream (raises cholesterol and the sugar makes you wild) They just better leave my Potillos' hotdogs alone!!! :)

Gary B
(who has no option as my asthma won't let me be around smoke)

"In Chicago, they came first for the cigarette smokers, And I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a cigarette smoker;
And then they came for the cigar smokers, And I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a cigar smoker;
And then they came for the ice cream eaters, And I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t an ice cream eater;
And then . . . came the toy soldier collectors. . . And they didn't care what the rules were!"

I make it a point to enforce the ban on CUBAN CIGARS - everyone I find - I burn it ! I stand strong on this point !! ;)

I'll be arriving around noon on Tuesday, will unpack the van and set up the rooms all day and night Tuesday, hit the sack and open Wednesday around 10:00am or so, ready to rock and roll until the show ends Sunday around 4:00pm CST................

Is the K&C dinner likely going to be on Friday evening again this year?

I haven't heard anything official about any events by Treefrog/K&C or Figarti. Last year both were first rate events and the information presented was terrific. It opens ones eyes to the background of military miniature production.

Gary

I would think the dinners/lunches would still be held at the same time as before.

"George, I knew you would collapse!"

Gary, I cut through all the BS that has been floated out there about all the new rules and regulations the hotel has and called the hotel directly and spoke to the woman in charge of enforcing said rules.

As I thought, it is a whole lot of nothing, she was a sweetheart of a lady and explained the hotels position on this and I felt 1000% better after speaking with her.

Plus, one of my show regulars (he drives up from New Orleans every year with a list a mile long of items he wants) called and gave me a 4,000.00 show preorder; no problem, I'm in!.................

George, from what you gathered arriveing Wednesday (me) will be worth while? Meaning "open doors".
Still too early for a countdown, I start about 50 days before!
Gary

Gary,
We can sell out of the rooms Wednesday with a sign on the door saying "Open" which will be provided by the hotel; the door cannot be open 100%, but it will be open enough to let customers know I am open.

Thursday AM will be business as usual, so yes, it will be worth it to come up on Wednesday........

Regards,
George

The Chicago Show was the first show I attended in 2000. I had a few Timpo plastics from my younger days and I went to see if I could add to my collection, boy did I add to my collection. The show opened my eyes to the world of collecting. I live in suburb of Chicago and I go every night, I enjoy going into every room that I can. It is hard to keep track of all the rooms.

Is the K&C dinner open to collectors or just dealers.

Have our rooms booked getting in on the Wednesday. May fly in on Tuesday but hit the city for a day with Dispatch Dave!

I'd better have my P's and Q's in order then and tell my Dad (the brains of the outfit) to clean up his act too!

Excellent Tony, and looking forward to meeting you and your colleagues. I will bring my pictoral Santa's wish list of things I'd like you to make for the Crimean War range in the future. Here is a sneak preview of that list. :)

Kilted

the lower guys are pioneers however the top right guys are British infantry....Queen Victoria let a special ruling go through that the soldiers were allowed to grow a 'Crimean' beard.

A lot of the guys took up on this as fresh water and shaving materials were hard to get hold of.

Not sure of their exact regiments!

With that Tam I am thinking one of them is a Scottish rgmt.

What exactly was a "Pioneer"?

Were they used to make clearings for camps, build defensive positions?

Were they used to ancor defenses with their axes?

Sorry, this period of conflict is not exactly my strong suit.:eek:

They do look formidable!

Njja:eek:
