Hi Guys,

Our old pal “Vezzolf” asked the following…

1. Why does K&C not release more Panzer Grey AFV’s…?

Well, over the years I would say we’ve released a fair few including a Panzer 1… Panzer II… Panzer III and Panzer IV plus a Stug and a Kubelwagen… and that strange looking armoured car… plus a Krupp Protze and the early 232 and I’m sure a couple of others… But maybe “Vezzolf” didn’t’ notice those!!!

2. Why don’t K&C provide AFV’s with different turret numbers?

Because Vezzolf old chum, the vast majority of collectors do not purchase multiple quantities of armoured vehicles therefore it is not economically viable to do so… trucks, landing craft are exceptions to the rule,

3. Vezzolf has, he says, shifted his collection towards all those other
manufacturers who are “filling his void”.

Now my friend, please be specific, supply us all with those companies producing heaps of Panzer grey AFV’s with different turret numbers? I’m sure we would all benefit from your view on this.

Love ‘n’ kisses,
Andy C.

Andy, old buddy and pal, 1) First of all, Panzer Grey AFV's have been far and in between from K/C, there have been some "over the years" but mostly it's the "same old same old" camoflage paint schemes 2) Different Turret numbers would not affect sales if you really think about it....Individuals who intend on purchasing "1" AFV would still buy only one.3)I have shifted my collecting habits to fill "the" void for products not being offerred by K/C......Lastly First Legion is producing Panzer Grey and I'm sure will continue to do so giving folks what they want.....Figarti has also been producing some knock out AFV's and I m sure that Rick will continue to do so......I trust that this adequately answers and addresses your comments......Best Regards....Much Hugs and Kisses to you ;)....It's good to have open discussion and dialogue.

easier said than done..............the painting bit.................:D

Andy didn't say sales, he used the term "economically viable". My guess as to what he meant by that was cost, not sales. As in, it would be more expensive to hand paint hundreds of individual numbers for every tank.

Not to mention...you see people complain about one number being somehow "wrong", imagine if collectors had hundreds to choose from.

All that said...I think you made a legitimate point. K&C has made some nice looking grey AFVs. But there is clearly SOME demand for MORE grey German AFVs - you are certainly not the only person to request that.

I think maybe Andy took exception to what sounded like a critical tone in your post and interpreted your statement about going to a different manufacturer as "if you don't make what I want, I'll take my business elsewhere".

I also feel a bit bad because you seem to be ganged up on. I feel like I've been sensing a pattern lately of someone posting something critical, Andy responding reasonably...and then a number of posters piling on the poster.

It's understandable to want to take Andy's side, as he is not only the reason we're all here talking but a hell of a nice guy. And sometimes people do complain about ridiculous things. But not every critical poster deserves to be piled upon in my opinion.

Sorry if I've gotten off topic. I guess this is just an issue where I can see both sides, and I hate to see acrimony on this board.

Wayne, Unfortunately, that's the only way you'll ever get the paint scheme you want....Unless you consider an alternative:cool:.....Re-paints are costly in my opinion....Best "Vezzolf"

First of all we don't need hundreds of different turret numbers but it would be nice to have 2 or three for a model (decals).....Just a suggestion....Anyway I don't feel ganged up on.....The odds look very even to me as there are many collectors out there who share my views.....I like the comment about K/C selling grey paint:D....good one.....boys if you don't speak up once in a while that will be your only alternative.....

I like grey vehicles too. One of my favourite ranges is Fields of Battle. But if you consider where and when grey was used and what AFVs could be painted with it , the choice is limited. Early war AFVs and Barbarossa vehicles were grey. Afrika Korps were not. After the first year of Barbarossa and for the entire Italian and Western Front campaigns, vehicles were NOT grey. So any mid - late war and mid - late model versions of an AFV would not be grey. And K&C doesn't do much Eastern Front.

As for other manufacturers doing grey, those vehicles a few and far between.

Terry

I don't think people gang up on posters who are critical, have not seen it much on here and, recently the only acrimony was the deluge of posts over the 'refugees' I don't think anyone today has had a 'go' at Vezzolf but, reading some of the replies that Andy puts on here he speaks his mind in response to certain issues raised.

I have not met the man so, do not know what his personality is and whether he is a nice guy or not. I am sure, as he is human, he will have a good side and a bad side as we all do.

Anyway as for cost and hand painting numbers etc are K&C all hand painted?? I wonder, I have repainted a lot of stuff and, say take the AK Panzer II the aeriel recognition flag on the five that I have painted are stickers which, were able to be peeled off. A lot of the tank numerals etc are to look at some form of decal which, when scratched comes away one can see the difference in shine if you tilt it to the light, you can also get plenty of products which matt them down and make them almost unrecognizable. Either that or stencils are used and sprayed.

Thats not critical its just common sense, you can tell when something is hand painted and when its not. I know how hard and how long things like LAH/Das reich/TK arm bands, swastikas and rank badges take to hand paint so, its a quiker option to use aids.

I asked this on another blog yesterday, why does everyone think repaints are costly???

Terry, Not enough early war being done, would like to see more of 1939-1942....First Legion is producing grey AFV's for the Eastern Front 3 already....and....They are excellent....I have the Panzer III on order.....This will likely be the best AFV ever produced in the business.

Arnhem44mad...
