Conte's back!!! (1 Viewer)

WOW, I didn't know toy soldier making was so hectic, it must be tempting to retire to the Caribbean with a certain pirate queen.

Take a look here, gentlemen:

It's time we stop asking if he's still in business and rejoice! There's light at the end of the tunnel...
:D

Hey, thanks for the link Uthred. I'm kind of busy at the moment, so only had a quick speed-read, but it looks like several of the items I've been waiting for might be appearing sooner rather than later. I've saved the link to my favourites folder so I can read it properly later today.

Cheers

You're welcome, Harry!

Yes, some are Vikings, but there are also 4 new Barbarians and 3 new Highlanders from the Wallace Clan as well!
:cool::D

Not to mention lots of other stuff!!!!

Dreams are coming true, gentlemen. Dreams are coming true.

Great read, I will say one thing, when I have corresponded with Richard directly, he always emails back, answers the question at hand and provides a very amicable answer or solution. I have always loved his stuff and its uniqueness and subject matter. The Sons of South didn't work out as planned, but I still even like the Club figure and Gordon figure from that range!

Should be fun in the future,

Tom

Very informative and great read. I understand his position of producing older sets. I bought all the early Spartan sets when they first came out knowing that they would sell out. When the new Spartan sets come out I will buy those as well right away. It is a fact that companies retire sets as the molds deteriorate and at some point you have to move on to new subjects.

I would think by Christmas we should see the AZW stuff. Christmas 2009 that is.

Uthred: Thanks for the updated link on Conte. I see some neat western figures being shown along with other new figures. I always thought RC treated me fairly at the shows. I remember several years ago at Chicago show when his sculptor was making the western figure sculps at the show. Leadmen

Thankyou for the read Uthred!

Vick and Leadmen: You're welcome!

I,m from Missouri (The Show Me State).
Gary

Gary, if by that you mean you don't believe him, maybe you should go to North Carolina and see it for yourself: The new Conte warehouse, the collector's lounge, Richard Conte and the staff working... even the Pirate Queen!
:D

That would show you, right?

Well, I just got word my package from Conte (I won an auction from him on Ebay) has just arrived! I paid for it 12 days ago, since I live in Brazil and packages take 7 to 10 business days to arrive here, I think they sent it on the first 2 or 3 days.
:D

Fast shipping!
:D

I'd like to clear something about myself as well.

I'm Brazilian and I live in Brazil and here we have a philosophy: "Remember the good moments, forget the bad ones." I try to live through that statement and I don't look for the worst on people, only their best.

So when I say I trust Richard Conte and I have no doubt great stuff is coming soon, you, my American friends, should not think I'm naive and don't know anything about him. I've been collecting Conte's toy soldiers since 2001 and I've had my disappointments with him before.

Conte could disapoint me again, but he has credit for all the good stuff he's done. It is simply a matter of philosophy. We Brazilians believe people should be praised for their achievments, not bashed for their faults.

It is a good philosophy, it works for me.

All the best,

Marcelo

Just had another look at those AZW figures and they do look great. I'll keep an eye out for them.

This fellow looks great too:

This lucky fellow spent almost 10 years in a box in Nevada, but now lives in a nice cabinet, in Brazil!

Some "Wild West" figures would be the ones I would want to see ... and buy :)

I was reading this whilst at the shop this afternoon. They saved it for me. I read most of it but there was so much I had to stop. I will reread tonight. I would really like to know more about this guy. he seems kind of interesting.
