Among the many problems has been the inconsistent guidance from the "experts." A couple months ago they were saying kids shouldn't go back to school. It was reckless etc. Now many of those same experts are suggesting exactly the opposite even though nothing has changed in the intervening months. If anything, the number of cases has gotten much worse. But suddenly they are advising it is safe for kids to go back to school. It is bewildering. When all is said and done with this pandemic, there needs to be a complete review of the politicization of the "science" from quasi-political medical experts and how that has impacted this situation. They seem to have been making things up on the fly instead of having a plan. Pandemics have occurred throughout human history. Surely some health organization that has received millions in tax payer funding for just such a contingency should know what should be done when it happens instead of trying to figure it out from day to day and changing their minds back and forth.

The biggest problem is when Fauci came out and said you don't need to wear a mask.

Uh, yeah you do, it's an AIRBORNE virus.

He lied so that like toilet paper, morons would not stockpile masks and horde them as we had critical shortages of masks and other PPE when this ****show started, so he lied so that front line healthcare workers would have access to masks.

This country got caught with their collective pants down when it came to this pandemic.

Like we did on December 7th, 1941.

Here are the US numbers;

March: 186,200
April: 883,199
May: 723,166
June: 845,736
July: 1,926,970
August: 1,479,756
September: 1,215,901
October: 1,940,522
November: 4,252,822

Needless to say, we're heading in the wrong direction, our Governor is thinking of shutting down all non essential businesses again. That sounds like a plan; I'm sure a lot of these cases are coming from hair salons and malls...............................:rolleyes2::rolleyes2::rolleyes2::rolleyes2:

Thank Christ the vaccine is coming at some point this month. They should start with front line health care workers and elderly who are in assisted living facilities..................I read somewhere that currently in this country of roughly 330,000,000 there are only about 53,000,000 residents over the age of 65, that number seems low to me?

I also read somewhere they should be able to give vaccines to 20 million Americans a month, that seems like a low number considering again there are about 330,000,000 Americans; so it will take what, almost a year and a half to vaccinate everyone?

Oh wait; I forgot about all those who are not going to get it....................no problem, we'll be done in a couple of months then.

George, latest estimate I heard on television is that anyone who wants a Vaccine will be able to obtain it by June 2021 in the US. SO, I assume that to mean they will be readily available to all in 6-7 months from now.

I am sure this will continue to fluctuate. That said, it seems to be positive movement.

On another note, in the circles I travel in, I have not heard any reservations about getting this Vaccine other than no one wants to be first, but they all want to get it!
Tom

I had surgery last week and was admitted to the hospital for two nights. I had my Covid test the day before the surgery. I was put on the post surgical floor and had a nice private room.
At 11:00pm that night they told all the surgical floor patients that they were being moved to another floor. It turns out they were preparing the floor (with special filtration systems) for the
coming surge. We were stuffed into small rooms with two to three other patients.
I can tell you that the many, many doctors, nurses and aides I spoke with were incensed that people still don't wear masks and take this seriously. Many had friends and associated who worked
on Covid wards and they can't forgive those who have helped spread this virus through ignorance, obstinance and pure selfishness.
My heart goes out to these frontline workers.

Hope you are feeling better, Rich!:salute::

I was told by my primary doctor they will handle this like the flu shot; they notify everyone in the system when it's available by email, you go into the system and pick a day, time and location and go get it, easy as pie.

And like the flu shot, it's not mandatory, you either schedule a day and time or you don't, your call.

June is a long time, my hope is the number of cases will start dropping once people get the shot...................I hope, ie your chances of getting it will drop as well.

Looks like the Spring is shot to Hell........................

I had posted a few pages up the allocation. Since you’re younger with no medical issues as far as we know, you’re in the last group so you’ll probably be able to receive one in the second quarter of 2021 as Tom noted.

I think the vaccine is going to roll out faster than most expect. The government has already paid for millions of doses. They have already been produced. They are just waiting on FDA approval to distribute. A large number of people may not want it at first which means everyone else will be able to get it. I would surprised if everyone who wants the vaccine doesn't have a chance to get it by early Spring.

If I start smoking, boozing it up and going to McDonalds everyday for lunch, will I get moved up?..................:wink2:^&grin

Plus you have 2 or 3 more companies coming out with vaccines. They are just a little behind the others.

The end of a matter is better than its beginning! When all is said and done, there should be some optimism about how the vaccine was developed so quickly. As terrible as this has been, it is not the end of the world. And history may record it as a success rather than a failure.

Around this time of the year, I get into the Christmas spirit, my Dad loved Christmas; LOVED it. He had nothing when he was a kid, so we had everything as kids, he made Christmas truly the most wonderful time of the year..............well the apple does not fall far from the tree, I love Christmas too.

The day before Thanksgiving I decorate the house; 10 foot tall tree, santas everywhere, candles, wrap the stairway with garland and lights, put up my Christmas village, the whole 9 yards.

I also love all the Christmas movies and the TV specials, they take me back to a simpler time.

I recently watched Fred Claus; the movie is not very good, but there is a song in the movie that has an effect on me I can't put into words, it's tremendously moving and it hits me where I live.

As I try to get through this mess, for about 4 minutes, this song takes me to my happy place; the part in the video where they spread his ashes into the Pacific amongst thousands of fans really gets me.........................thanks for giving the world this gift IZ, tell my Dad hello for me, I'll see him on the other side over the rainbow someday.

George...

I have always loved that version of Over the Rainbow by IZ...
the big man had a great smooth soulful voice...

but my Christmas movie tradition is Elf...w/Will Ferrill...
or A Christmas Story....^&grin

IZ Lives . . . I've always found this arrangement to be almost spiritual. It's a cold person in my opinion that doesn't feel something when hearing this song.

George,

Thanks for the Christmas spirit. My favorite Christmas special is the original cartoon of Dr. Seuss' "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," narrated by Boris Karloff. I watched it last night with my 13-year old daughter. That moment near the end when the true meaning of Christmas comes through, and the Grinch finds the strength of ten Grinches plus two, gets me every time.

What a gift from God IZ was...................the world is a lesser place without him in it.

Love Elf..............the part at the end when he's in Santa's sleigh and he waves to his brother and girlfriend........yeah, that gets to me.

If a person does not feel something when hearing this song, I truly feel sorry for them.

George, Fauci and other reputable health experts have been consistent in the guidance to wear masks since April 3. Why is there still confusion? I mean, I know the answer but that would make the thread political.

Right, since April 3rd; prior to that he said you don't need to wear one and he only said it so that people would not horde masks as front line health care workers needed them.

This is a novel virus and you always see it referred to that way. As such, the way you deal with it will change as you acquire knowledge about it. It has been and remains an evolving process.
