Meanwhile in Western Australia, we can ditch our masks tomorrow after having to wear them for the past 2 weeks after there were 3 cases in the community.

No we only have to wear them on public transport, in hospitals and somewhere else.

We've just had our 1000th case since the start of the pandemic !!! That is the 'joys of living' on an island with closed borders !!!!

I read an article yesterday that said Florida has seen a huge spike of COVID cases since spring break while at the same time deaths among those new cases are all but non-existent.

There was no follow-up to that, nor any reasons given as to why the cases continue to rise while deaths from the same are dropping rapidly.

There are fewer deaths because of the treatments now available and also, cases are rising in younger people, whos immune system is stronger.

There are also fewer cases among older people as most of them are vaccinated.

Here in MA, the infection rate has dropped like a stone, we're under 1,000 new cases a day, closer to 500 new cases a day, the number of daily deaths is in the single digits.

ANY death is tragic and could have been prevented at this point if 100% of the population had gotten vaccinated.

But you can't fix stupid.
 
Cases have dramatically decreased in NJ; 459 today. Our county which a month or two ago had been averaging around 150-200 cases daily was down to 11 today.

What are the odds that the first confirmed cases were in the same city that had such a lab and there is no connection? Logic seems to dictate that it was no coincidence that the pandemic began in the Wuhan. Likely by accident. If that is the case, however, you would expect that the US intelligence community would confirm it. Surely they know. Instead it is largely dismissed as a conspiracy theory by the media or completely ignored as though it doesn't matter.
 
So miraculously masks are no longer necessary today if you have been vaccinated! Imagine that. I wonder what is different today from yesterday or the day before or the months before?
 
My personal favorite is how the CDC issues a recommendation that masks are no longer required for those with vaccinations yet some state's governors say that they are going to still require them.

I am ok with that but many of those governors are the same ones who early on in the pandemic asked (demanded) that the Federal Government issue mask recommendations so that they could follow them.

Just a few weeks ago the CDC director indicated that we were facing "impending doom." Her exact words. Fauci was saying we need something like 70% or more folks vaccinated before things return to normal. The number of fully vaccinated people are about half that but now out of the blue masks are no longer required. And on an otherwise disasterous week in the news. But I'm sure that nothing to do with it. Just a coincidence. It's all about the "science."

Great post that all but sums up what we have been dealing with from a "leadership" perspective since the pandemic started.
 
Today our governor announced effective May 29th, all restrictions are lifted and we're fully open, no limits on the size of indoor or outdoor gatherings, restaurants back to full capacity, bars and night clubs are reopening fully.

HOWEVER, masks will still be required for those not vaccinated?

Umm..........so how will they know if you are or if you aren't?

Other places like hospitals, medical buildings, long term care facilities, you'll still be required to wear a mask.

I still have no idea how businesses are impacted; ie, the grocery store, CVS, retail stores.................will it be up to each business or are all of those restrictions lifted too?

Our daily numbers here have dropped like stone, less than 500 daily infections/deaths down to single digits..........that said, ANY death IMO is still a tragedy and a sad situation, not trying in any way to minimize deaths.

This past weekend, we got together with our friends for the first time since the Super Bowl....................February, 2020.................haven't seen ANY of our friends since then.

It was GREAT to see our friends, all of whom are fully vaccinated, a lot of hugs, handshakes and not gonna lie, tears were shed too.......it was very uplifting and we had a ball, didn't want either night to end...............MANY more like it are on the horizon.

I'm glad I made all the sacrifices I did, but enough is enough, time to get back to living...........................

Voted this morning in a local primary. Didn't expect a single person to be there and it was packed. The virus certainly has increased interest in all levels of politics. For good or ill.

After wearing masks at work for well over a year as of Monday it's finally over!!!! Thank God!!
 
Just enjoyed shopping at BJs and Lowes....................NO MASK REQUIRED!!!!!!!!! THANK GOD we are finally moving forward.

I'm amazed at all the "help wanted" signs that I see in the local businesses. They are desperate for employees. The stimulus bills seem to have had an opposite effect. Just when places were opening up, the government started paying people not to work. So it's taking all that much longer to get back on track.

People like my deadbeat loser of a sister sit at home making more money with free health insurance, no incentive to go back to work.

My recent stay in New Orleans at a 5 star hotel - The Saint - they had 10 rooms on average per day to be available due to having 1 (ONE) housekeeping staff available for work. And I got a rate of $93 plus taxes when it is usually $400 plus per night.

Why work when you don't have to?

What a disgrace.

Keep finding more programs giving out free this and free that, maybe they'll hand out another round of stimulus checks soon.
