Cheers Lt.
Think I'll take both of my Zulu & Zulu Dawn DVD's with me when I travel to Dubai on Thursday. I can watch these movies until they wear out and never tire of them.
Its absolutely no effort posting my photos. I know that some of the comments I attach to certain photos appear to be complete drivel, but its just me having a wee bit of fun. I'm just grateful that you guys generally seem to like the pictures.

Since you're in france I assume you did get the french DVD release of Zuludawn? It's presented in 2.35.1 for the first time. Amazon has it and I can recommend it. Lightyears ahead of the US/UK Mosaic DVD version .

There is also a new release of Zulu in R2 that includes a poster;

Hi Randy I'd be pleased if you selected one and have no idea of how to add photos to the TF Photo Gallery and thanks for your comment. Great thread and idea you've posted in the K & C section of the forum. Hope all's been well and looks like winter is slowly but surely headed our way.....The Lt.

Hmmm - not sure how I missed this one....

To put things on the TF Photo Gallery you simply need to e-mail (pete@treefrogtreasures.com) me the images you'd like to include so I can run it through my software and get it on for you.

We've love to have your images

I'll make it easy for you:D; http://www.amazon.fr/Zulu-Dawn-lult..._bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1196435491&sr=8-1

It has the original english track as well. Believe me when i say it's a must buy. Do a google on the french title to find more retailers. This is a film that truly benefits frm the 2.35.1 aspects ratio.

Now, isn't that a fantastic shot of the doomed Bob Hoskins and the rest of the 24th?
You guys are definitely going to ruin my wallet.
Best Regards

In the tradition of the Lt's mini dioramas I decided to make one for myself depicting a Donga, foot of a hill, or just a interesting terrain feature. Anyway, plenty of use.
I have a lot of to-do projects on my bench. This one was started sunday and will be finished this tuesday, at least the painted up groundworks. That will be a new personal record for finishing something I started. This is a pic of the unfinished foam piece, it has allready been primed and is currently drying.

Done so far. Need to paint a background, make some trees and grass to spice things up.

Very nicely done Joachim your talent as an artisit really stands out. Great shot of the little man of the house just having said see what my Daddy's been doing and welcome to the World of The Mini Dio's........The Lt.

Joachim

Breathtaking: the scene, craftsmanship and photos. You've done the Lt. proud :) You and the Lt. are making me want to more seriously collect the Zulu war. What a great time for your subject.

Is that a future collector in the photo looking up at dad?

I really need to get a printer:eek: Nice work Joachim! Your son looks like the model for one of the orphan drummer boys for the K&C Christmas set for 2006:)

Thanks for the kind words guys.
Yes, most are ACTA. I think they are the best plastic ZW figures around. Classical with enough detail and realistic proportions throughout. I really should buy some more (and so should you). The only thing Conte has over them are the shields, which look better, and pose number.

The guy beating a zulu with his own club is from laststandminiatures.co.uk but to my regret I must say I don't recommend dealing with them.

The little guy does have a healthy interest in toy soldiers and recently discovered (much to my horror) how to open my display cabinet .
K.V. I'm not into K&C but consider it a compliment if my little guy is compared to a limited run retired figure in fancy uniform :).

Hi Joachim,
Thanks for posting your diorama, it is fantastic!
I have two questions. First what type of printer did you use for the backdrop. Second, what material did you use for the base?
Thanks.
Looking forward to more posts from you.

Thanks Benjamin. It's a HP color laserjet 1600. My printer isn't suited for photoprinting specifically. I found the pic on google, cut it apart to A4 size in Adobe Indesign as I know how to work with that, pasted the whole together and voila. For durability it's better to outsource this kind of work to a photolab for example, have it printed in one big piece.

I use Polyurethane foam for the base, pasted on a piece of wood. There are a lot of different kinds of PUR foam, This one comes in sheets and is used for support in polyester constructions like statues and pieces of art. It doesn't leave a lot of mess and sands/cuts like a dream.
It seems that PUR foam insulation plates are very common to buy in the US at a regular hardware store. I think they might work the same. Here they only sell styrofoam. I buy my PUR foam at a speciality store.

Nothing major is done after that; a few layers of acrylic paint. The surface isn't dent-proof but holds up perfectly when handled with proper care.
