DAK002-DAK009 Panzer III's and Infantry Pre-Order (1 Viewer)

Re: DAK002-DAK009 Panzer III's and Infantry Pre-Order!!

I am still not comfortable with the vehicle price points, but here goes. I absolutely love the armored cars. Was the type car shown actually used in the desert campaign? Are there grey cars still available? Do the wheels roll:smile2::smile2:? I may hate myself later, for even thinking about buying one...Michael

Re: DAK002-DAK009 Panzer III's and Infantry Pre-Order!!

I don't know much about division markings for AK AFV's....But I do know this: These are "without a doubt" the best AK Panzer III's "ever produced" in 1:30th scale. The detail and paint and weathering on these AFV's are without equal....The SdKfz8 Re-con vehicle is extremely well done....NO ONE else even comes close to the quality of these products....

Re: DAK002-DAK009 Panzer III's and Infantry Pre-Order!!

Guys...

Not wishing to rain on the AK parade but, I have some concerns regarding the 5th Light Panzer Division Ausf J late version deployment, additions of the armour plate, what 5cm version gun it has and when they were added how, and why.

I think the time lines factually and historically are out of line a bit well, a good bit. August 15th the 5th light division was redesignated the 21st Panzer Division but, I am unsure the division during this period had these Panzers in this variant. Look forward to chatting with you all about this
Mitch

Actually, you are correct Mitch and the tank should actually be labelled the 21st Panzer Division, not the 5th Light Division and i have corrected that in our catalog.

This was my mistake as in my rush to load the catalog yesterday, when I looked back through old documents to confirm the divisional designation, I read an old version which had it as 5th Light Division. However, in the production documents which do all of the graphics for the tanks, my partner had correctly labelled it as the 21st Panzer Division. So this was just a case of me being in a hurry and using outdated information. Nothing on the tank actually changes (insignia etc...remain the same), so the error was merely in the labelling and that has been corrected. The tank is indeed the 21st Panzer Division, not the 5th Light Division.

Thanks for pointing this out, as i was already moving on to other things and would have left it incorrectly designated forever!

Best,

Matt

Great to see some new WWII releases, which look great!! I'm not a Dak collector but now the ball is rolling hope to see my Stalingrad revisited soon...Sammy

Re: DAK002-DAK009 Panzer III's and Infantry Pre-Order!!

Tempting ... very tempting ...

Yes FL might make some mistakes one day ... but I do believe that they do care a lot about us and our opinion. FL will never release 'fantasy' vehicles or planes, this I'm sure.

I'm now playing 'wait & see'... those next weeks are gonna be very interesting ...

Cheers,

Alex

Re: DAK002-DAK009 Panzer III's and Infantry Pre-Order!!

The tank in question is sporting the 21.Panzer-Division unit emblem so I don't see an issue.

I think both the tanks and infantry look excellent and I will now be starting to collect DAK for the first time.

Re: DAK002-DAK009 Panzer III's and Infantry Pre-Order!!

Just looking at this cool shot of the new AK stuff . There looks to be another figure in this photo... first figure on the right in the front . He looks to be opening a canteen . These new releases look very well done IMO . Congratulations to Matt and the crew on another fine release :salute:: Regards Gebhard

Yes Michael these armored cars were used in North Africa. Wheels are fixed.

Re: DAK002-DAK009 Panzer III's and Infantry Pre-Order!!

Very nice paint jobs on those uniforms....they look sharp! great stuff for FL DAK collectors.

Thanks Michael, glad to hear that you like them. As for hating yourself, only until you open the box. ^&grin

Yes there are grey cars still available as I just bought one this week.

A case to be made for FL over K&C is quality over quantity. Spent $X over five years; go with K&C, you'll have variety, and quantity, and shrinking space. Take my word for it. Or go with FL, & you'll have a small treasure of museum grade stuff and much less storage and organization pressure. I'm with the good stuff now.

Re: DAK002-DAK009 Panzer III's and Infantry Pre-Order!!

This new Tank looks very nice indeed to me , I do like the paint job as it gives it a nice Desert worn appearance. The figures look good too, I'm sure any Ww2 collectors would be very pleased with this set of releases. Nice work Matt.

The quality of the release is an entirely different matter to the breathtaking double standards on show on this thread, some of us find the constant peck peck pecking very annoying and a shocking lack of respect for the enjoyment of others on another part of the forum.

Re: DAK002-DAK009 Panzer III's and Infantry Pre-Order!!

Matt...

Thank you for the reply both on forum and in PM. Redesignating it the 21st Panzer Division now makes it historically correct for the features you have highlighted on the Ausf J and fits now in the release range.

I would also like to let FL collectors know that this was certainly not brought up to either try and get something over on this manufacturer it was simply that it did not fit right the time frame for AFV features or units as it stood. This now brings the AFV into what the British called the Panzer III special and were prevalent for El Alamein et al.

Excellent Post...Well said

Re: DAK002-DAK009 Panzer III's and Infantry Pre-Order!!

Just a ffew weeks ago I posted the following in another part of the forum:

"Any news on the DAK range? Any chance of reinforcements or have they all been sunk by the Royal Navy en route to Benghazi!"

Obviously a convoy has got through at last!

Mein Gott! These figures and vehicles look fantastic and I really like the ability to choose a Mk III from a particular division. The figures look pretty good as well - particularly the nice faded look of the uniforms and the mixture between steel helmet and forage cap.

Re: DAK002-DAK009 Panzer III's and Infantry Pre-Order!!

Will these be displayed at the Westcoaster?

Re: DAK002-DAK009 Panzer III's and Infantry Pre-Order!!

How would this tank and the 232 match up, size wise, with the K&C Panzer IV?

Re: DAK002-DAK009 Panzer III's and Infantry Pre-Order!!

I think they should be OK size wise as they are the same scale. most of the modern 1/30th stuff from the main manufacturers size up well together IMO

Matt,
Kudos on this latest batch of DAK AFVs and figures. These look absolutely superb!
Love the realistic painting and weathering on both PzIIIs. Well done!
Semper Fi!

I do not collect WWII nor do I collect K&C, so don't take this to the bank - I believe I have read a review that indicated that the FL Russian & German figures were smaller than K&C figures. I don't know if this is true of their AFV's. Somebody on this thread with knowledge of both manufacturers AFV products should respond in more detail to this question.
