Guys..
Simple diorama quickly showcasing the new FOB UXB range. A common scene in many english cities during the years of WWII. Here some of the crew of a UXB unit have found their target. One chaps listening to the workings of the bomb while the officer lieutenant Brevis is looking at what the bomb is and, what timer it has. Len Smith follows up with the trusty shovel and other eqiupment.
I remember reading about Len and brevis who was awarded the OBE before the war!! a few years back and, thought this was an apt scenario to bring up some of his comments. He joked that they were not really scared they did not have time to be as in three years they got no leave... there were just too many bombs!!!. If a bomb was ticking it was time to evacuate and, run like bloody hell was after you as, it was going off and, soon. How the germans delayed fuses for upto 82 hours on some of the bombs to cause more casualties after an all clear. I remember him saying before they realised this they would often spend many hours carefully excavatinbg the bomb loading it onto a lorry for safe disposal and, the bloody thing went off on the truck killing all the crew. The germans, or Luftwaffe, also used the ZUS40 anti removal bomb fuse. This was specifically designed to kill the bomb disposal crews. These guys learned the hard way how to circum navigate these nasty little surprises.
These guys were extraordinarily brave men and, this set is a fitting tribute to what they did during the second world war. Many were transferred into europe after the blitz!!!! Life expectancy according to len was... the next bomb!!!
I have to say these are excellent sets from K&C and, the Tilly looks very very nice. I would not hesitate to tell people to buy this and, thats really not my style, so, to speak.
Hope you like the pics
