Guys..

Simple diorama quickly showcasing the new FOB UXB range. A common scene in many english cities during the years of WWII. Here some of the crew of a UXB unit have found their target. One chaps listening to the workings of the bomb while the officer lieutenant Brevis is looking at what the bomb is and, what timer it has. Len Smith follows up with the trusty shovel and other eqiupment.

I remember reading about Len and brevis who was awarded the OBE before the war!! a few years back and, thought this was an apt scenario to bring up some of his comments. He joked that they were not really scared they did not have time to be as in three years they got no leave... there were just too many bombs!!!. If a bomb was ticking it was time to evacuate and, run like bloody hell was after you as, it was going off and, soon. How the germans delayed fuses for upto 82 hours on some of the bombs to cause more casualties after an all clear. I remember him saying before they realised this they would often spend many hours carefully excavatinbg the bomb loading it onto a lorry for safe disposal and, the bloody thing went off on the truck killing all the crew. The germans, or Luftwaffe, also used the ZUS40 anti removal bomb fuse. This was specifically designed to kill the bomb disposal crews. These guys learned the hard way how to circum navigate these nasty little surprises.

These guys were extraordinarily brave men and, this set is a fitting tribute to what they did during the second world war. Many were transferred into europe after the blitz!!!! Life expectancy according to len was... the next bomb!!!

I have to say these are excellent sets from K&C and, the Tilly looks very very nice. I would not hesitate to tell people to buy this and, thats really not my style, so, to speak.

Hope you like the pics
Mitch

Nice use of lighting. I will have to get my Danger UXB dvd set out again for another viewing. Anyone have a favorite episode, my fav is where they first use the steam powered drill on a bomb, Iain Cuthbertson played an excellent inventor/boffin in that series.

Simple but effective, the figures tell the story. Thanks for the display. Cheers, Robin.

Nice little dio Mitch . I like where you put the Tilly.
Rest assured I ordered the whole set. Hope to receive it soon through my local dealer

Guy...

Not really a thing I do rah rah with the you must buy type of stuff but, seeing this this morning, its a evocative little set. I thought the sneak peek of the tilly outside the bombed area made it look ok without having it parked inside which, would not work. Mind, the caveat I have with the set is as always with brit mickey mouse colourway and, that is the camo pattern is scribbed into the AFV!!!! I know why they do it so the chinese painters kind of paint by numbers or, lines in this case but, not keen myself. Look forward to seeing your sets in dio

My photo skills are pants so, the light effect which, I did not notice but, was rather pleased was down to the fact that deliveries at mine come at 06:15 to 06:45 and, its still dark!!! Thus the main light was on in my work room

Wayne..

Really I wish I could take pics like some of you guys on here just something I cannot do. Point and snap it takes lots of shots to get a handful to post. Not my thing

Look forward to the dio. I am halfway through the one we discussed with the Junkers 88 and should be done at the end of the month. I think the sapper with the shovel is also a versatile figure and, could easily be repainted and added to the old K&C german engineers set to pad them out.

Hello Mitch:

Really nice photos of a realistic WW2 scene after a German air force raid over England. My wife & I got a small feeling for what it was like during our visit to the Imperial War Museum in July 1995 in their simulated bomb shelter room. Ah, and I still remember those huge naval guns that were outside of the museum as well!

Excellent dio Mitch. I like the arrangement of the figures and the Tilly in the background.
