This is growing on me every time I look at it, yes I have the first version but here we have a Spit flown by a US Hero who came to this country 70yrs ago last summer and helped to win the Battle of Britain. Add this all together and the question becomes why shouldn't I buy it!???![]()

Rob Spitfire look very nice & love the wreathing on itSorry guys my post here is misleading, Bill Dunn didn't actually fly during the Battle of Britain, he flew later and was an ace with five kills to his name, on the 27th August 1941 he shot down two ME109'S. He also claimed to have shot down an ME110 with a salvo of rockets.
Rob
Dunn was with the 406th Fighter Group, 9th Air Force and was flying P-47 Thunderbolts. The P-47s were flying cab missions (ground support) several days after D-Day and Dunn made a head on attack against an Me 110 trying to strafe an allied ship. Dunn fired all 10 of his 5 inch rockets in a salvo to drive off the Me 110 and then shot it down with his .50 cal. MGs when it swerved to avoid the rockets. None of the rockets hit the Me 110 - Dunn said he fired them just to divert the Me 110 because going head on against one was very dangerous. He claimed the Me 110 as a kill (it blew up at close range) but Dunn never claimed to have shot it down with rockets.
