Display Ideas to make the most of your space. (2 Viewers)

Nice collection and well presented displays Matt. It's evident what era you fancy. Hope to see you in the Military Workshop one day. Greg.
Thanks Mate, yeah would be great to catchup again, hopefully the Annual Brisbane K & C Dinner will continue this year.

Hi Oz,
Great collection and display set up...how do you manage to keep the dust away? How cleans the sets so as to have them so nicely set as in these great pics?
Cheers

Thanks Mate, yeah dust etc can be a problem if sets are on display for a long time. However I have rotated my sets on a regular basis as I have collected so many sets over the years. In fact most of the figures and tanks etc spend most of the time in their box packed away in wardrobes etc.

However, due to recent escalating health issues I have reluctantly decided to 'bite the bullet' and sell most of my collection. I've spent the last few days digging out all the sets to decide what to sell and what sets I can't part with. I've found some sets I had forgotten I had, as well as empty boxes that I didn't know I had. Now the hard part about deciding what to sell and what few sets I 'must' keep. However, it's like selling your kids, what sets do you choose to sell, and for how much?

Matt,

Sorry to hear about your health issues. I hope everything turns out alright.

Yes, sorry to hear about the health issues and hope things improve.

Thank's so much Louis and Steve, not good when you you're told your heart is on the way out. However looking on the bright side I'm grateful I had warning signs with angina earlier this month rather than a massive and often fatal heart attack as some experience. We are certainly an aging collector base and I know a lot of us have experienced health issues as we've got older, just sucks when it 'happens to you' sort of thing. And word to the wise on the forum, it isn't 'normal' to get chest pains as you get older. Paying $160 for a Coronary Artery Calcium Score (CACS) test was one of the best decisions I've made over the years, that lead to more tests, scans etc, resulting in a real 'heads-up' for me.

Matt,

Glad you had the test and caught it early.

Matt,
I love your displays and the way you've maximized your space. The floor plan layout looks awesome, as is your collection. 😲 That is a lot to display, and it must feel like entering a museum each day. I like the way the collection surrounds the room without enveloping it. When it's your time to go, can the room be converted into a tomb? LOL Great work with interior design, and thank you for sharing all of the pictures. Joe

Ha Ha thanks Joe, but I doubt our government would allow a Toy Tomb. Here's a photo I took of my lower terrace, maybe I could get a Viking Longboat style funeral, or at least a riverside cremation and get kicked into the River, Hindu style  That said, I'm in no hurry mate.

Yes that keeps busy as well as the 'load of lead' you sent me year or 3 ago, but I'm slowly assembling and painting and posting them over.

That will keep be busy for another couple of years so don't send any more until they are done !!!!!

Very sorry to hear about your declining health Matt, hopefully given the test results you are able to manage that situation with the assistance of your Doc?!

Sorry to hear your situation Matt, ten years ago I had to have two heart ops and ended up having stents.
So there's always hope and everything doesn't have to be black. But now you know, you can perhaps make a few changes.

Thanks Steve, I guess we're both lucky we have such a good health system, but it's sometimes difficult to navigate it with some suppliers charging more than others for CT scans etc.

And mate, have I made some changes, better late than never. I ride my bike around the lake every morning and getting out and about more rather than lying around the house. Of course I had a good excuss for 18 months or so with the Kidney Stone issues, but now that's fixed (for now) it's a case of use it or lose it.

Good for you for jumping on the bike and doing a few laps and catching some rays.....

We are definitely built to move while upright and frequently. The old adage of 'use it or lose it' is one of those sayings that certainly reflects the truth of the matter as we all age and includes the old noggin as well.

Then there's the whole social thing too, getting out and about and engaging with others, even if its just a short walk to the shops and some friendly banter with a stranger at a cafe can make the world of difference to your day.

Whether we like it or not we're social beings......the importance of pets in our lives is often over looked too.

I've recently taken up playing chess again with friends/family and reading more books.

Cheers

There's no shortage of people to talk to around here, problem is they usually only want to complain about what the other neighbours are doing etc. Maybe I should get a dog, would be easier to talk to, and prob more intelligent than some of my neighbours ha ha. I've been into chess since I was about 10 years old, I have a crack at it now and then, but doubt there's anyone living near me that plays. I joined Chess.com and another online company last year but got bored playing their computer. I subscribed to some youtube chess guys but they all seemed too intense, trying very very hard to win, plus there was some cheating here and there, takes the fun out of the game imo. I read every night, as lately I've been too busy during the day listing things on ebay etc.

Matt,

I am sorry to read this news about your health. Getting old and everything that physically comes with it sucks. As they say, aging is not for the faint of heart, and man are they right.

All the best to you my friend.

Mark
