i collect the napoleonics and cant wait to add the new black watch range to it :D

In addition to Zulu I also collect NAP, ARW and ACW - Some wonderful work being done in these ranges....Ignore the Washington figure in the NAP display - I forgot I set him there while moving some things around.

Great thread UKREB!! You speak for me in what you ask about the Zulu range. There doesn't seem to be a whole of action in the Britains section other than that huge Zulu thread. I was beginning to wonder the same things myself.

Even though I do not collect this range, I can appreciate others being interested in it and I take no offense at all for this range being so popular. I would like to see however, other posts covering more than just the AZW.

I collect their AWI and the Redcoats/Bluecoats/FIW glossy ranges. And my overall collection is 90% Britains.

Maybe a reason for the lack of "other" thread discussions is WB's inconsistent release schedule coupled with the small amount of releases each month. There doesn't seem to be a sytematic release schedule each month with a whole lot of releases like K&C or JJD. Anyone else observe this?

Yes, how could any one miss it. I was buying almost all Britains for about 3 months, then there was nothing else to buy in the 4 ranges I collect. So went back to KC and JJD to get caught up.

My problem with collecting Britains is Britains themselves, or their marketing strategy...I started to collect the F.I.W. glossy line. 95 percent of my 1500 figures are marching poses. Britains has been very slow to add these poses in the era I would buy. They have put units out that I want, but I can do nothing with at ease positions. And most of their F.I.W. are these, including all the multi packs offered. Why not a set of highlanders on the march or a rangers set at the walk..If they want to do them one at a time, ok, but let me and others know. As it stands now, my Britains gloss F.I.W. collection is the only group in limbo, with no finality in sight..I am not interested in matte, or the larger size figure, so Jenkins will not satisfy my F.I.W. cravings. Even, he gives you several pose options so that you could have a static or diorama like display..This is my continuing gripe with Britains:confused: and I am sticking to my story...Michael

Donnie, those are really cool set ups.:cool::cool:

lenswerks some excellent sets you have there

Hey guys

Thanks for all of your prompt replies and it's with some relief as I was beginning to think I was the only Britain's collector on here who didn't have a single Zulu in his collection as good as they are.

I had tried to put my engineering logic together with the maths to try and understand why no-one was interested in chatting about any other Britain's figures except the Welsh boys in red and their Zulu counterparts. But as I'm sure you know when you apply basic mathematics to an illogical equation the solution can sometimes evade you. So I am really pleased that a whole bunch of you do in fact collect the rest of Britain's fine figures (Lenswerk that is indeed an excellent collection you have there).

I do have "quite a few" of Britains Rebs and Yanks in fact multiples of them. But also amongst the collection are:-
The 1999 Boer War Centenary set-8 Cameron Highlanders & 4 mounted Boers
The 21 piece Royal Air Force Band.
The 1973 8 piece Artillery set WB5291
The Nelson Deck Scene WB4118
WWI mounted artillery figures
Practically all the old Alamo series-which really was a hit and miss series with much more of the latter.
Multiple single figures from a number of other eras
And must confess 40 or 50 of Custer/7th Cavalry Deetail figures.

But like Pat it has been sometime-apart from their ACW series- that I have added anything to the above somewhat eclectic sets. But repeat I am real pleased that I have actually located and confirmed a number of Britain collectors on the forum other than all the "Henry Hook's" on here.

An interesting comment REVWEARBUFF. Maybe I'm too liberal but I don't see how anyone could take offense at what other forum members collect. Other members could collect Hitler Youth figures doing handstands on the Berghoff Balcony for all I care, I only know I won't be buying any ;) :D

Btw, I'm not comparing 'Nazi Playtime' to the AZW, I just used that to demonstrate that it makes no difference to me what others collect. The simple fact is that I am interested in ALL military history but limited space and funds require me to to rationalize reasons NOT to collect various ranges, but I guess I'm not alone there.

I disagree as I'm mainly interested in 1/30 WWII Matte figures in non-combat poses :p Given all our collecting differences I would hate to be a manufacturer trying to decide what to make next  :D

Besides the obvious, I have the Red Baron Fokker DR1 with the Baron and his brother Lothar:eek: That's it for me
Mike

Mike, I forgot about that model. I was going to buy that set as it has some of those naughty Aussies in it but I read somewhere that the set was under scale.

Can you let me know what size the figures are?

Oz--

Yes, thanks for pointing that out. Sorry to confuse people with my use of the word "offense" in that manner. What I was trying to say is that I don't feel any "displeasure" at any range being so popular. Like you said, I feel people are free to collect anything they want. I was trying to point out that just because I don't collect the AZW range, I don't have anything against it.

"You all know me, you know how I make a livin'."

I collect Britain's Redcoats, from the beginning of the series, figures from the Seven Years War. I'll read about the Zulus, I have "The Washing of the Spears," for example, and I enjoy Stanley Baker and Michael Caine in "Zulu", but otherwise, as far as I'm concerned, "Zulus" is a punchline in an old vaudeville joke:

"I just got back from Africa, where I was playing cards with the natives."
"Oh, Zulus?"
"No, I usually won! Eh heh heh!"

Apart from the Redcoats, I have some classic Britains, and I also have a battery (7 or 8 sets) of Imperial German field artillery in review order from the Premier Model Collection by Charles Biggs.

The Redcoats/Bluecoats series is really well-done, and I hope it expands to include more mounted figures, and perhaps some artillery and train, someday. I think Ken has posted comments elsewhere, on the evaluation process that Britains undertakes to develop new figures, and we may see some of the things we've been yearning for, someday.

Prost!
Brad

I collect any Britains I like except Zulus. I collected all the Zulu War figures I wanted too some 20 years ago (Trophy) and have felt no need to revisit. The Britains I do collect are newer manufacture such as the Redcoat glossy, Premier glossy, VC Crimea glossy and some other odd glossies. I really like the WW1 matte series and own some 3 dozen of those sets and eagerly await more. The French cavalry are some of the best figures I own. I have some old hollowcast from the 20's and 30's that belonged to my dad but I do not pursue the older figures. IMHO the new Britains figures are superb and are amongst the best buys on the market. -- lancer
I forgot to include my ACW matte Britains which totals about 60 infantry, blue and gray. No ACW artillery or cavalry yet. Britain just does outstanding work. -- lancer

Matt,
he two brothers Baron are kind of small 54 mm and "squat". I was after the aeroplane really:cool:

I think you are thinking of the Frontline version Matt.

Good evening, I have just gotten home about 15 minutes ago from a vacation in Gettysburg, and I would just like to add I collect Britain's WWII, and now recently within 72 hrs. American Civil War Confederate Generals now!:D;) I would like to also add that all of Britain's products are top quality and in my opinion are the best toy soldiers on the market!:) Kudos to Ken and Dave for great sculpting and painting...
