Does anyone collect Britain's figures other than Zulu's? (2 Viewers)

I am a fan of most of what WB do but to tell the truth I don't really understand the fascination with the Zulu series as fine as they are. Personally I love the intricate detail of the 18th century and early 19th century. I find it a bit bizarre that when you look at the matt forum 9/10 it is Britains Zulu Wars which is the topic of discussion. I wonder if the sales reflect the popularity of the forum?

Well then, if you want to discuss other things like 18th Century/19th Century,
Go ahead and post your interests! The AZW is studied by some hard-core guys, that are FANATICS! I think it has to do with history , as much as the WB figures. Looking forward to all toy soldiers of all time periods being discussed and displayed!:)

And let us not forget the popularity of the Movie Zulu's my Aide De Camp as well as Zulu Dawn......The Lt.

That, Lt, has a LOT to do with the popularity. Maybe WB could license some classic movies and include DVDs with other timperiods to get folks turned on as suggested by Davout71?!

I was just thinking (dangerous I know :D) Seems that us AZW have no problem posting pics every time we get a shipment of new toys. This whole forum should be a buzz with people posting pictures of their new acquisitions no matter what they are or who they are made by. It also encourages me to post more, when I receive a few comments on my efforts :)

I know there have been lots of new releases across the board this year from all kinds of manufacturers yet very little photo evidence of these great figures. So people c'mon get snapping and posting, it's not that difficult and it's fun.

Scott,
Can't argue with that, can we?

I would agree completely... I love to see folks post images of their collections and new acquisitions. With all of the diverse products that the various manufacturers are releasing almost any period can be represented.
I think the folks creating photo dioramas have discovered the fun in putting the figures into historical and environmental context.
I also have noted that when the collectors get involved in this they use their historical knowledge and brush up on areas that help them set the scenes.
I suppose this could be a history teachers dream come true!

Indeed Ken !!! Before the AZW figures came along I knew nothing of this war. So collecting for me has broadened my mind and added some fun along the way. Next stop on the history tour is India for the Durbar (another unknown event to me) :) Looking forward to it !!!!!!!!!

Keep up the great work.

Ditto Joe, Scott, Mike and Ken. As I have said in a previous post on this thread, even though I collect other ranges and figures, the reason why I am so active on the AZW thread is because of the constant reliable sharing of information, pictures, enthusiasm, and learning - and this occurs amongst us AZW collectors on and off-line.

I have always collected Gloss figures in the traditional way and for the usual reasons,,Britains Matte figures are wonderful items.

just spotted this thread and must admit to being a 'closet fan':D:D have been collecting a few Britains world war 2 pieces. Among my favourites they did a nice stalingrad series ,art of war "strike attack", "seize the day" and some nice artillery pieces, 88 flak, howitzer, pak.
I really like their buildings and scenery for dioramas..haystacks,hedgerows, tree stumps and recently got the Hougoumont North Gate Set ,which is versatile for any era
winter pak is a simple but very cool piece :cool:

I collect Napoleonic and only started to buy Britain when they produced the Waterloo serie due to better details and quality of these figurines IMO, especially Napoleon's Marshalls and Generals (Ney, Colbert, Letort and Lefebvre-Desnouettes). These complement very well the K&C Napoleon and Staff set (the one with the tent). Looking forward to seiing more Staff individuals in this collection!:)

It is the Trophy threads and the WB AZw threads that seem to never die as collectors post pictures of their new aquisitions and help each other out with leads. Long may it continue.
All other eras are invited to start their own similar threads. I for one would love to see more of those WWII and Napoleonic displays.

I think there are hundreds of non-ZW WB threads but I guess as far as WB fans go the ZW one's are obviously the most fanatical.

I don't own any of the Zulu pieces . . . mostly American Civil War and Revolutionary War / War of Independence. The Zulu War pieces are interesting, but I guess my lack of knowledge of the period doesn't interest me as much.
(Has anybody noticed if there's any geographical or generational component involved in who does and doesn't become rabid about the Zulu War pieces?)

After recieving this piece i will be.........:)

Anyone out there collect the superb WW1 series, and if so, what do you think of them and which do you like best? I am already on record in this thread as really being impressed with the French and liking the whole series in general. Superbly done. -- lancer

I do. I have to agree about the French, especially the Cuirassiers. I'm hoping there will be more WWI releases soon. Artillery would be nice:)

I would love to see artillery, especially the French 75mm, or any other FA with crews. I would really like to see a German 210mm also. Lots of possibilities. -- lancer

WWI certainly has me intrigued. There are so many W Britains series. I love em all but collect only a few :(
