Eagle Design Tiger I (1 Viewer)

HI Tom
Thanks for the photos. Can you post the ED Tiger compare with FL Tiger.
Thank You.

I have finally gotten around to taking some comparison pic's between my ED Tiger and my FL Tiger. As you can see the ED Tiger is slightly larger (as well as heavier) than the FL Tiger. I think it will work ok with K&C figures and TG figures but I think it works the best with Kronprinz and WB figures. It may be a little to large for FL figures but it will be interesting to read the views from members that have an ED Tiger and FL figures. I don't have many FL figures and I think the two FL Tiger tank crew that I do have are a little to small for the tank.

Thank you, Tom. It does look substantially larger. Great photos.

Excellent comparison photos Tom. Could yo provide dimensions for the ED Tiger I? I will calculate the scale and post the result. The FL Panzers and figures seem to be on the small side of Kronprinze and WB figures which measure at a true 60mm in height. The Figarti Tiger I measures a precise 1/30 scale and the FL is smaller, perhaps 1/31; but I do not have the FL Tiger I measurements to derive an exact scale!

Tom, thanks for posting. On HB it was measured and determined to be a little shy of 1/29.

I think your pictures show the size difference the best I have seen yet. I would be Ok having the ED in front of the FL to show depth but not next to each other as your pictures demonstrate.

In comparing historical photos I do not think either FL, KP or WB (and probably WP now) are wrong. They’re all within the normal human range. Many of us who have been collecting a long time got used to figures that were too big for the 1/30 vehicles. Now we are seeing much more accurate proportions in my opinion.

No worries mate.

Thank for posting the photos mate :salute::

Your welcome Neil.

Thanks Kat and even though Larry has confirmed that the ED Tiger is around the 1/29 scale, i'll try and take the dimensions for you and post them as soon as I can.

Thanks Larry and I agree but adding JJD into the mix as I think John is now producing accurate and exceptionally detailed 1/30 scale armour and vehicles.

Yes, my JP and Panzer I are excellent

No worries Larry and I meant to say "JJD into the mix as I think John is now producing accurate and exceptionally detailed 1/30 scale armour and figures"

I'm waiting on my JJD Jagd crew to arrive but going from the pic's I have seen, they look excellent. I have the JJD RAAF Spit ground crew and pilots and they look awesome as well.

Yes, I need to order some as well.

I am still waiting on the ED Winter Version?????Any word on any release date???

And these ED tanks have metal tracks?

Joe

Yes Joe, they do. That's why they are heavier than FL tanks. Both appear to be made out of resin but the tracks on the ED tanks are metal.

Tom

Hi all

I have been doing some reorganizing of my collection recently and I thought I would take some photos of my ED Tiger with my K&C Winter Tiger. As you can see they are very close in size although the dimensions do differ somewhat even though they are different versions to each other. I think the ED Tiger will work well with K&C and TG figures and I have mine displayed in my cabinet with a K&C Tank Commander. The soldier next to the tank holding the panzerfaust is TG and the Nebelwerfer and crew are Patriot Miniatures.

Clearly the Eagle Design Tiger is significantly larger in many respects then the K/C Tiger and does not work at all with FL Tigers....It seems to work well with WB WWII figures .....I wish that the ED Tiger was true 1:30th scale but clearly it is not

Until dimensions are published I would withhold judgement as to the size of the ED Tiger I. Photos can be deceptive due to camera angle and the eye of the viewer. Tom's excellent comparison photos indicate to me that the K&C and ED Tigers are very close in scale and the K&C Tiger I has been measured many times to be an accurate 1/30 scale. The K&C lacks fenders and the WD has them; which can lead to a misperception of size IMO.

This thread has me confused. I just started to buy afv so it may be just my newness at it but, by reading other threads over the years I "think" I have learned that.
KC and TG figs work well with TCS and KC tanks because they are all a bit larger? figs and afv's work well together. I own these and believe they do.
Wb, Conte, Fl and now WP figs work well with FL and JJ tanks because they are all a bit smaller than KC and TG and the figs and afv work well together.

SOOO if thats correct, wouldn't the ED tiger work well with KC and TG figs due to its larger size? most people said at the start of ED threads that they thought KC/TG figs would be too big for ED.
I do not want a scale war here, But man I really don't get it and I just started WW2 again so I am trying to to stay in one scale as space is a major concern for me now.
This is why I drink btw.

Chuck; confusion comes naturally to Toy Soldier collectors, as each manufacturer does their own thing as regards figure size and scale. I will attempt to clarify; K&C, TG, FL, ED and Figarti produce 1/30 scale armor. K&C, TG and TCS produce 1/28 scale (65MM+) figures that are larger than the armor. FL, WB, Figarti, Kronprinz and War Park produce 1/30 scale (60mm) figures. The trick to achieving realism in dioramas is to mix and match armor and figures from different manufacturers; except for FL, TCS and Figarti who make figures and armor to roughly the same scale. TCS is the only manufacturer who makes 1/28 scale armor and 1/28 scale figures. K&C and TG figures work with TCS Figures and armor. K&C, TG, Figarti, FL and now ED armor work with WB, FL, Kronprinz and War Park figures. I hope this helps!
