Talked to the Mods about starting a food, wine, and beer thread. I started collecting in 2005; do not collect anymore. I still love the community though; was just wondering if enough of the community was interested in starting said thread?
If not no problem I will still come to drool over new models and talk in the Gen Forum and Movies and Media.

Iv'e been eating for 50 years and drinking beer for 32 years, so I'm all for it.............
 
I am all for it! All quite on wine and beer though.... unless I'm in Europe ;-)

one of my favorite meals on earth:

Fresh caught blackened catfish with collard greens and garlic mash potatoes and unfiltered Franziskaner Weissbier.

AND/OR

Peterlugers porter house medium rare with spinach and hash with Becks dark.

Beat that.

Pan Haggerty with a chunk of Stottie cake and a bottle of Newcastle Brown Ale (with salad if the rabbit died)

Drinking beer from 18 onwards? Why am I struggling to believe you perhaps didn't start a little earlier? :wink2::tongue:

Come on now Simon, my Dad was an officer of the law and would not tolerate any buffoonery on my part like underage drinking..............................at least that he knew of............
 
Excellent Thread.

My wine history. While on assignment for 6 month in San Fran at the wee age of 25, I learned a lot about wine. Got hooked. Decided after attending several Silver Oak Winery release days (including flying to Napa from MD for that specific purpose) and buying verticals that Silver Oak was the only wine I would drink. It was guaranteed to be great in every bottle! Well, several years later and a cellar full, I started reflecting on the amount of moolah tied up in each bottle. I decided bs on that and starting enjoying each and every year over several years! Now down to less than 10 bottles of Silver left and savor every one of them. Now, fast forward, my wallet learned that there is always a winner at $100 per bottle, however, there are many gems at $7 to $25 too and they are way more cost effective. Now I pursue those wines with gusto and my wife is happier! But alas Silver Oak, I figure "it is better to have love and lost, than not loved at all!!!!!!!!!"

All kidding aside even though the above is true, some great evenings in Baltimore are:

1. Trip to Little Italy to Aldos - order Italian Chicken Soup, Caesar Salad, First Course Pasta (Pesto is my favorite), Second Course Shrimp Parm (fresh jumbo hand breaded each morning), All enjoyed with the House Chianti. Finish with a Vacaro Cannoli and Cappuccino. End evening with Ciroc over Ice and a fine Cuban Cigar. (Now must be enjoyed outdoors thanks to draconian smoking law) Now that is an evening in my book.

2. Enjoy "The Prime Rib" uptown Baltimore. Start with Lobster Bisque, Appetizer of "Greenberg" Potato Skins, Wedge Salad, Prime Rib with Garlic Mashed Potatos and Marinated Grilled Asparagus. Finish with slice of New York Cheesecake and House Coffee. Enjoy an established full bodied Cabernet along the way!

Next time we will visit Tio Pepe and then venture into "Baltimore County" for the best MD Jumbo Lump Crabcakes to be had! Finally moving onto Maryland's Eastern Shore Hospitality and end up on the West Virginia Border to enjoy some of the finest German Food west of Germany!

Sounds good to me too.....

Oh the joys of travel, vsiting Belguim last year, meeting up with Michel in the Ardennes, enjoying the local brew from the monastry and excellent meal with his wife & family ... AND inspecting his wonderful collection of ALMA Figures....

Bliss...

Then there are the German Beer halls, and the history of what went on there in Munich {eek3}

A beer with the Treefroggers at the London Toy Soldier Show (someting not to be missed :))

A beer with Wayne when he comes over to pick up his repaired K&C Germans....:cool:

Sounds like too much beer, not enough food.... ??? :redface2:

Thanks for the link it was funny I will look more up.

As for any Australians here I watch a lot of Australian cooking shows and they are always eating Yabby. Is it just lake a big Crawfish what does it taste like? I would order some but the shipping would kill me.

Ah-Belgium. Can't beat the food (fries, waffles) or the beer (legal over there too!)!
