Dear "Lancer":
Thank you for the price information on Major Bong's P-38 model. The photos of it posted at the Forum look just great. I have a book entitled "ACES HIGH" about the two Metal of Honor aces Major Dick Bong & Tommy McGuire, the number one & number two aces Vs the Japanese in WW2. The photo of Major Bong's P-38 with the photo of his wife "Marge" on the engine in this book looks just like the one on the Figarti model! Major Bong was born in 1920 (as was the #2 ace Tommy McGuire) on a farm outside of the small NW Wisconsin town of Poplar. As I am a collector from Wisconsin I just might very well purchase this splendid looking set that has both WW2 connections as well as to my home state of Wisconsin, USA. I was not planning on going to the OTS Show near Chicago this year, but after seeing these photos of Major Bong's P-38 I am now planning on making the 90 mile trip to the OTS Show afterall!

You are quite welcome. It is a beautiful P-38. Would love to see a McGuire P-38 to go along with it. Bong and McGuire were not only the leading aces against Japan, but are the USAF's all time leading aces, with Bong having 40 victories and McGuire having 38. Matching P-38's would be a wonderful tribute. A tragedy that neither of these men survived the war. -- AlDear "Lancer":

[/QUOTE]For fear of blowing our own horn, we were quiet about our contribution to the show this year, BSP did this display for Figarti. What is interesting is that Rick used a piece we had to cut off the base, to fit it in the box, to prop up the crane. We actually put it in the box for packing. Good thinking Rick ! Alex
Dear Michael,Who made the bases for the winter dio's?
The California Cutie is a prototype and not yet in production. I was told Figarti is working on the Bong P-38's right now and that the California Cutie would be closer to the end of the year.:smile2:Is there a Product Number for this P38 ETO Version??..."California Cutie"....It's not listed on the Figarti Website only the Major Bong "Marge " is listed ...
I'm not sure and will check tomorrow. I remember seeing two different types of Roman buildings with columns and some Roman civilian sets.:smile2:Was the Marco Polo Roman Artillery set there?
Figarti showed prototypes of the next additions to their Bloody Tarawa series: 5 Marine sets and 5 Japanese sets.:smile2:
