Fighting in the heart of Normandy... (1 Viewer)

Hi Ken and Ericka,

Just wanted to thankyou two for a wonderful time at the History Store. I sure learned alot about painting backdrops for dioramas. You sure make it look easy. Please let me know if you have anymore demonstrations in the future. The Carentan diorama made it home OK. First think I did was put some of my soldiers on it. Will try to send you some pics ASAP.
Thanks so much for all...Ron {sm4}

just came across this thread, buildings are very nice, especially like the barn and the courtyard, the wallpaper on the bombed out house looks perfect. ^&cool

These are some really great scenes Ken. The buildings/walls/scenery etc. are all excellent, and the figures/vehicles are placed in such a way as to make the scenes "come alive". Everything together is so realistic looking. Well done. Thanks for posting all these shots of your brilliant work.

Hi All,
Thanks for the kind comments on the work.
Well it is over 70 degrees here in Michigan so I used the nice weather as an excuse to go out in the back yard for a few minutes to take some pictures. I just used a few components, our stone walls with custom painted signs, plain stone walls, cobblestone street section and our new stone & brick gateway. Also used was a small custom building, a scratch built pine tree, our water trough and some forest litter to blend it all together.
Here is an image of the basic foreground elements...

I think you cn see how easy it is to set a time and place with only a few scenic items.
I hope you enjoy,
Ken

On behalf of Hans, Louis and myself, thank you for the wonderful gifts you gave us this past weekend. We had a great time and hope to see you again soon in New York to enjoy some more sushi! All the best, Lawrence

Ken and Erica,

It's always a fun and informative experience being around you. Not only do I admire your creative dio and sculpting abilities, but your vast Historical knowledge brings this hobby into finer perspective. Thanks, and I'll be speaking to you in the future about some things we discussed.

My best

Joe

Ken and Erika,

I wanted to personally echo Larry's sentiments. The gifts were wonderful, but your company was the best gift of all. Hope you can join us in London for the next Symposium!

Regards,

Louis
