football season is here!!!!!!!!!! (1 Viewer)

"Plaxico Buress - Evil Genius or MORON?"

I'll go with moron, accidently shoots himself with a handgun at a nightclub.

And to think this toolbox shot his mouth off during Super Bowl week last year AND caught the winning TD.

I guess he got tired of shooting his mouth off.

What a waste of God given talent.

Giving Mr. Buress the benefit of the doubt, maybe he did not know which end of the gun the bullet comes out of or maybe he is just a REALLY bad shot.

Lol; pro athelete + booze + loaded weapon = disaster................

Now you know why the Steelers told him goodbye and good riddance!

What a moron. I only hope the Giants cut him loose. I would rather get by without a top receiver and take my chances than win with a piece of work like him. What is it with wide receivers today? Plax, Uh-oh Stinco, TO, Randy Moss, not a single solid citizen in the mix . . .

A good ol' butt kick'n put on by the gators over the seminoles!!!!! looks like the SEC championship really is the national championship only sooner, man, Alabama vs. Florida make sure you have your tivo set or your close to a t.v. for that game it may not be the actual BCS bowl championship game but whoever wins it I think will be the national champ....Sammy

Well - I guess no surprize today in Tallahassee. A Number #4 team beat a Number #20 Team soundly.

Of course it would have helped a little if the Seminole didn't give away every chance they had with turnovers. That wasn't the same team that whipped Maryland last week and in a way I am glad that BC won - FSU needs to bring this season to an end and play a small bowl.

As for TEBOW and his antics and jumping around on the field showing the lack of the gentleman that he is - I now will be rooting for ALABAMA and looking forward to a team and a Quarterback with a little more class being the National Champ.

ROLL TIDE !

Florida looks like they are the best team in the country right now. They should handle Alabama. If only USC got a shot at them. That would be some game. So long Charlie Weis.

Come on Ron, sounds like I hear some sour grapes coming threw, the guy (Tebow) was just a little excited, I mean if you were beating the snot of one of your biggest in state rivalries you would be a little excited. but as far as the game against Bama, it will be a close game with Florida winning by a touchdown.....Sammy

Even though its the wrong kind of football.... today is United v. City

Hopefully that goes better than my other rivalry game did this weekend. UGA blew it for the 1st time to those Techies in 7 years. Shame. Good luck to Bama next week, keep Tebow on his back!

Luckily for Alabama, they won't have to play either Oklahoma (they've scored over 60 points in each of their last four games, including wins over #2 Texas Tech and #12 Oklahoma State; they are THE best team in the country right now, they've got noone to blame but themselves for blowing that game earlier in the year to Texas) or USC in the BCS title game, they'll get Texas and will blow they off the field.

If Florida beats Alabama in their upcoming game, do they vault over Oklahoma to #1 and play Texas? If so, another massacre handed out by Florida in a title game.

College football is a farce, no playoff system in place; the LEAST they could do is reseed the teams after the bowls and have the top 4 teams in a playoff...........

Wow! The Vikes looked pretty sharp man-handling the Bears tonight. A rare treat to see in my decades of often painful support. Hopefully they are peaking in the home stretch....we shall see.

So much for the western conference teams inability to win in the east, after going 0-14, the Broncos and the 49ers both came east and won yesterday.

Just End The Suffering for JETS fans . . . yet another set of inflated hopes dashed by a typical Jets collapse against an inferior opponent. They made that rookie fullback for the Broncos look like Earl Campbell. Only the Jets can torment their fans like this, except maybe for the Cubs . . .

The Giants on the other hand, facing the ultimate distraction thanks to the continued misadventures of the worlds most talented moron, continued to roll with a 23-7 whipping of the Redskins.

Interestingly, despite the fact that the entire NFC East is over .500, and the Giants have the best record in football, only the Giants are presently in line for a playoff birth, with the NFC South currently holding both wildcard spots (Panthers 9-3 and Falcons 8-4).

The Vikings beat the heck out of the Bears to take control of the NFC North. The Vikings, with that running game and run defense, are like the Cowboys when healthy, a team that can pose a threat to the Giants in the playoffs, something I don't see Tampa Bay or Carolina being able to do.

The Steelers, with a sound beating of the Patriots (sorry George, I thought the Pats had a shot at beating the Steelers), have established themselves as the class of the AFC, with no other AFC team striking me as consistent enough to pose a legitimate threat to them.

The Giants proved that with what could be a major distraction, they aren't distracted. It's pretty amazing. Over the last year and a half, they've subtracted Tiki, Shockey, Strahan, Osi and now Burris (most likely permanently) and they keep on getting better. Who would have thunk it.

The Jets? When it was 7-0, you could tell it was going to be a long day. You just have a feeling for some things. Enough said.

I don't really see the Vikes that much of a threat. Yeah, the beat the Bears. Don't think that's saying much, however, who are quarterback-challenged. If the Giants bottle up Peterson, well, there you go. QB is the ultimate retread. I guess we'll find out more in the last week of the season, although by then the Giants should have wrapped up homefield advantage.

I don't know Brad, the Vikings beat the daylights out of the Giants last year, and, frankly, I don't see the Giants being able to run in the middle of the fied against the two 350 pound defensive tackles the Viking field (although they might both be suspended for an illegal substance as early as today for 4 games, in which case I would not worry about it, the Vikings won't even make the playoffs).

Assuming the tackles are there, the Giants would have to do what they did the last two weeks, and rely on Eli and the play action. He threw 4 picks against the Vikings last year, 3 returned for touchdowns. He is a different player today then he was in week 9 last year, but every once in a while the bad Eli shows up (for example the Browns game this year). I think the Vikings could pose more of a threat then you might think.

Well in any case, we will get a chance to see how the Vikes and Giants match up at the metrodome the last week of the regular season. Hopefully MN won't drop the next 3 games in the meantime in their usual late season collapse tradition. :)

Dave,

If the two defensive linemen don't get suspended, and the Vikings do not collapse, that game could be vital to both teams, with the Vikings fighting to clinch the North, and the Giants fighting for the best record or for a first round bye, depending on how their next three games (Eagles, at Cowboys, Panthers) play out. If so, the season finale could be one of the most exciting games of the year.

On the other hand, a Giants win or a Cowboys loss next week clinches the Division for the G-Men, and if the winner of the Panthers/Bucs next week loses one more game or the Giants win one more game, they will clinch everything with two games left to play, so the Giants might chose to rest players in the last couple of weeks.

As a kid, I absolutely loved the Vikings, Eller, Marshall, Page, Krause, Kapp, Tarkenton, the list goes on and on. They crushed me every year, losing to the Chiefs, Steelers, Dolphins and Raiders in the Super Bowl.

They lost that heartbreaking playoff game to the Cowboys when Staubach heaved up a prayer that got caught even though the reciever CLEARLY pushed off on the DB and the ref called PI on the Viking player, no matter as it was a TD.

They also lost an NFCCG to the Redskins in the 80's if I recall, absolutely blew the NFCCG game vs the Falcons and got demolished by the Giants in another.

And despite all of this, their fans are still rabid and loyal, gotta love Vikings fans. I remember when they used to play outside in artic conditions, those were the days.............

Yes indeed, I suffered through most of those seasons. The first time I heard my dad say the "F" word was toward the end of that Skins playoff game in the 80's. Such fond memories......

I suffered right along with you and your Dad if it makes you feel any better Dave; loved those Purple People Eaters back in the day, loved those sideline shots of Bud Grant, his facial expression never changed, ever....................
