football season is here!!!!!!!!!! (3 Viewers)

The Steelers of the 70's introduced steroids to the NFL like the Oakland A's and Jose Canseco did to MLB in the 80's.

Go ahead and deny it all you want, facts are facts; pot, meet kettle.

The Patriots went 18-0 without the aid of video taping and they won two Super Bowls on the last play of the game, so if video taping gave them such a huge advantage, neither game would have been that close and they would not have gone undefeated without the tapes, so your point is pointless.

Their AFCCG wins were a different story; they blew the Steelers out both times on the road.

Priceless.

Joey Porter still hasn't stopped yapping.

Again, I completely understand now why you are so torked off at the Patriots, I'd be too if I were a Steelers fan.

Get over it.
Yeah, take John Kolb for instance, he was a 215 pound center in college, within a year he was a 275 pound monster and a tackle. I don't think it was from drinking milk shakes.

As a Giants fan, and am glad that the Giants did the right thing and cut Plax loose (unlike the Cowboys, Ravens, or Raiders, who have kept convicted criminals on the roster). It is a huge hit to the team, which had finally obtained a top flight wide receiver for the first time in my lifetime, and will certainly be an obstacle that must be overcome if the Giants are to defend their title, but it is te right thing to do.

I never thought I would be pulling for the Dallas cowboys, but I need them to beat the steelers today and hope my Ravens can beat the Skins tonite so then we would be tied for first, then the evil Steelers come to Baltimore next Sunday, oh my that's going to be a blood bath of a game...Sammy

Well, I guess the whole "media distraction" concept has some validity to it . . . the Giants played their second stinker of a game today, but still managed to clinch the NFC East at 11-2 thanks to the Steelers comeback win over the Cowboys. I guess the Cowboys aren't back after all, as they got beat, and could do nothing offensively, against the first good team they played since Romo got back.

If I am not mistaken, the Cardinals clinched the NFC West, their first division title since 1975 (when they played in the NFC East!). The Titans may also have clinched their division.

The playoff picture won't come completely into focus until the last week of the season, but a few teams have already punched their ticket.

The most interesting race for me might well be the AFC East: after today's games, its a dead heat - the Pats, Jets and Dolphins are all 8-5. Strength of schedule really favors the Jets and Miami, but I wouldn't count out the Pats just yet, they keep on hanging around.

How about the Steelers........................Ravens up next.

yea, your boys better bring your hard hats ya gonna need 'em, the ravens gave the steelers a xmas present earlier this season when we fumbled the ball away for a freebee t.d. for the steelers, if it wasn't for the fumble the steelers would not have won, if the media thinks baltimore was jacked up for the skins, wait until next sunday, it's gonna be a head banger...sammy

Congratulations Sammy, what can I say. The Ravens played well, the Skins did not rise to the challenge yet again.:(

Tonight is a key game in the NFC playoff picture: Tampa Bay vs Carolina. Whichever team wins controls its destiny in the NFC South, and if Carolina wins, it actually controls its destiny for the number one cede, as Carolina plays the Giants in the penultimate game of the regular season.

Next week are two big games with playoff implications: Steelers vs Ravens and Giants at Cowboys. The winner of Steelers vs Ravens will be in the catbird seat for the AFC North, with a Ravens win potentially dropping the Steelers from the 2 cede to the 6 cede. Both the Giants and the Cowboys need next Sundays game - the Giants as a bounce back game from a terrible performance this week, and to clinch at least the 2 cede and a first round bye, the Cowboys to have any chance of making the playoffs.

Argh, what a dilemma; I would like both of them to lose. But if pushed I would prefer a Cowboy loss, horrors, that means I will have to root for the Giants again; brings back memories of the Superbowl.

If it makes you feel any better, I was uncharacteristically rooting for your Redskins last night - I hate the Cowboys more, and would have liked the Redskins to win and jump back in front of them in the playoff picture.

The Bears tried to give the game away, but beat the Saints in OT. I still have hope for the playoffs.

This is it!!!!!!! the ravens vs. the evil steelers, I have been waiting almost 2 months for this rematch, we gave Piittsburgh the first game, but I promise you this, this won't be a repeat!! it will be a slobber knocker, blood, sweat, and hopefully steeler tears, I predict a final score.

RAVENS 16
STEELERS 10

...Sammy

No luck Sammy. Like I've said they're a nice little team but not much more than that. Steelers are probably best team in AFC.

Looks like the playoff seeds in the AFC are set pretty much, if the Steelers beat the Titans next week, they are the #1 seed and the path to the Super Bowl leads through Pittsburg.

If they knock off the Titans next week, the Steelers are clearly the best team in the AFC. They may be the best team without beating the Titans, that game today was like a playoff game, so the Steelers may be off a tad next week and who can blame them, that was a great game today in Baltimore.

After the Steelers, I've got the Colts as the #2 team (seven in a row and counting), then the Ravens, the Titans, the Broncos and Miami.

Brad, no offense, but your quote was "The Ravens are a nice little team but not much more than that." Are you kidding, their defense is all world, second only to Pittsburg. The Jets; they had ZERO, NONE, NO business at all winning that game today, it was yet another gift in the Meadowlands.

They have looked terrible the past three weeks; if I owed the Bills, I'd fire the offensive coordinator and wouldn't allow him on the plane. 2nd and five, two minutes to go, they ran wild on the Jets all day long and he calls A PASS PLAY?! Absolutely moronic; as the great Bill Parcells used to say, when you pass, three things can happen and two of them are bad.

I expect the Dolphins to beat the Jets in week 16 to capture the AFC East, leaving the Patriots as the odd team out at 11-5 (they should win their last two games), the first team in NFL history to finish 11-5 and not make the playoffs.

My early prediction is Steelers vs the Giants or Panthers in the Super Bowl.............

George,

They have a great defense with that criminal. So what, their offense blows.

As far as the Jets, I'll be the first to agree with you but, who knows, maybe that win gets them off the schneid. Sometimes fluky plays can change things around. Doesn't change the fact, does it George, that they're in first place in the AFC East. Ruminate on that one:D

I'd hardly say the Ravens offense "blows" to use your term, a bit harsh there.

Yeah sure, fluke plays can turn things around, Lord knows that was an early Christmas present today, a gift of epic proportions.

And the Jets are tied with Miami for first; best of luck beating the Seahawks in Seattle and the Dolphins, if you win both games, you deserve the AFC East title. Chad coming home to his former stomping grounds and beating the Jets for the AFC East title would be, well, so Jets like, they'd be lining up on the GW if that happens and that rat Magini would be hung by his hindquarters in times square.

Brett Favre is the greatest quarterback in the history of the NFL, he has turned the Jets from 40+ year sad sacks to sure fire Super Bowl contenders. Heck, I fully expect him to wear a Jets jersey into the hall of fame.

Happy Holidays to you too...............

Well, well, well...............................The "evil" Steelers foiled the ole Ravens yet again.....muhhahahaahah. That was for you Sammy.

Yup, 2 great defenses, came down to literally the last drive and when the Steelers needed passes, they got them. I don't really care about the debate over the TD catch b/c the way I see it, the game was on momentum and the Steelers clearly had it at that point. Finding a way to win is usually the difference between 2 evenly matched teams and this year, the Steelers have that ability. I think I aged a few years on this one, but I am very happy to see the Ravens tears as all I heard all week was how the Ravens were going to dominate, it would be a blow out, etc. Well guess what, now you know why the Steelers have the #1 defense. According to the stats, Baltimore was held to 202 total yards, Steelers had 300 total yards.

All in all, a great football game and yes I would have posted it either way, probably one of the most ebb and flow games of the year. 2 master defenses.

And please, no crying on the thread, it was a great game, someone had to win, someone had to lose, the Steelers Ravens is case closed. Maybe we will meet again in the playoffs.

Two teams I don't want to have to play in the playoffs are the Ravens again or the Patriots. I don't know the Patriots chances of making the playoffs but I don't want to see them coming to Heinz Field. Too many bad memories. I can see the Jets losing to Seattle next week so the Pats might still have a shot.
