Foreign Legion Fort and other projects I have been doing... (1 Viewer)

Mike thank you for the detailed info on your technique. I will see if I can post some pics of my effort so far.

Didn't get to see your latest additions of photos Michael until now. Once again my friend your out doing yourself and thanks for sharing it with us....PapaZ

Just in incredible work Mike....the FFL fort and Roman dio's are amazing!!! I find them very inspiring as well making me want to give it a try. If you don't mind me asking, what do you use to achieve the wonderful stucco effect? It just looks so realistic, and the painting and woodwork of all your structures is fantastic! Thank you so much for sharing your artistry!:smile2:

Walt...you're welcome...looking forward to your pics...

thank you Joe...Joe and Joe...^&grin...for the nice compliments...

I have actually completely finished my fort...except for painting the underneath of the base...and promise to pose some Legionnaires defending on the walls for pictures very soon...

I just received delivery of a few more sets of the Tommy Gunn French Foreign Legion figures...man these guys are hard to find...so here's a couple of pics...I stole the title of this thread from Jack Wagner's fantastic website...

http://monlegionnaire.wordpress.com/

Mon Legionnaire...is translated to "My Legionnaire"...it is also the name of a song with the romantic theme of a woman's longing for an embittered Legionnaire...who refuses to reveal his name...with whom she has a brief affair.

Check out Jack's website...it's pretty cool...he has some nice model forts and military miniatures on there...plus a ton of info on the FFL...

Joe...look back at post #50...I gave some pictures and a detailed explanation on the stucco...and it's very easy and fun to do...I'm sure you would create some wonderful structures if you tried it...

Michael mate,
Outstanding Legion Fort cobber. Your talent never ceases to amaze me. I just loved watching it thru all of the stages of building. Looking forward to catching up at the Texas TS Show. I have instructions by email from the "Big Dude" to purchase that Fort and ship it to him in the Land of the Great White Cloud (New Zealand)^&grin^&grin
Cheers from the Land Downunder, Howard

hey Howard...thank you...and I have spoken to "The Big Kahuna" himself already...I'll bring it to San Antonio and you can take it home via London for him...^&grin...see you soon...

What a beautiful set you've created Mike. Just brilliant. Thanks for all the interesting details. Enjoyed this thread very much. Chris

Chris...thanks for the comment...

I have finished this fort and am anxious to start a new one...

the base is 37"x37"'s...

the fort is 28"x28"x14"s...

I was originally going to make it in modular sections...but I didn't want any seams...so it is a solid one piece construction...

it was originally intended to house designed French Foreign Legion...but I didn't angle (incline) the towers and only moderately angled the merlons so I think it could be used for any inhabitant...I did install a French flag...but it's easily removeable...

here are some pics of it...I will post some diorama pics on Jenkins and Tommy Gunn forums as that is what I used in my photos...
