Have always liked the Conte COG also.

The way you did the background sea (or Channel) is absolutely excellent !!

Thank you.

Its autumn 1944 and somewhere in a forest in Eastern France a German paratrooper unit remains behind the retreating German army to try to hold up the allied advance for a few precious hours.

Now across to southern Ireland and King James is sent packing back to Dublin and eventual exile as King 'Billy' easily defeats James's catholic forces in the battle of the Boyne 1690.

Wow the variety of era's is super amazing Gary. I thought I covered a lot in my collection, but no where to your extent. So many brands of figures I have never seen before, supported by appropriate terrain and backdrops as well. Reckon you have got every conflict covered. The Nile Roman boat is a stand out. Your diorama possibilities are endless. Robin.

Thanks Robin. The new K&C Israeli war figures will be New and Kronprinz are hopefully doing some fighting ancient Egyptians. So that will be something new. Still lots to collect I fancy. Gary

When I first started collecting toy soldiers in 2001 I was fascinated by the French indian wars and so wanted to replicate this exotic and colourful conflict in miniature. There was little about of course back then. But how things have changed and this conflict has become a regular on many a manufacturer's catalogue.

And then in the mid 2,000's John surprised us all with his seminal Battle on Snowshoes range. Oh what fun we collectors had recreating this hard brutal conflict in the harsh winter conditions. Previously the only snow backgrounds needed were for K&C's Battle of the Bulge range. Now snow covered terrain could be used for the French Indian wars. Great stuff and fond memories.

The snow shoe series is one I have looked at many times over the years, always about to hit the button on this unique period which John has done so well. Somehow resisted and now it is a little late to be considering, but it is ever so nice viewing someone else's collection. Robin.

Robin I saw the first sets at the London show and that hooked me in. A wonderful snow bound diorama filled with so much action. I got the first 15 or so sets but lost interest. It was great getting these guys out of the box after such a long time. I find snow scenes very attractive as they can really bring out best in the figures on display. Gary

Tunisia February 14th 1943. Its the first face off between America and Germany in WW2 and the battle for Kasserine Pass. The inexperienced green US troops get a bloody nose as Rommel's experienced Afrika Korps deal out the punishment. The King Tiger and Panzers easily pick off the US Lee and Grant tanks. It was a lesson well learned as its not long before the Germans surrender 250,000 men as lack of supplies render them useless. Then it's on to the invasion of Sicily and knocking Italy out of the war.

To satisfy King Henry VIII's ego and revenge for France aiding the Scots in earlier rebellion Henry sided with the King of Spain to attack France. In July 1544 Henry's army lay siege to the French city of Boulogne and took the city after a couple of months. France and Spain made a separate peace agreement but France was subsequently not able to retake the city from the English. Eventually Henry reluctantly agreed to give back the city eight years later. Armies at this time were a mixture of old medieval style equipment with crossbow and longbow together with cannon and early muskets. The rise of the new weapons rendered cumbersome armour useless and it gradually became redundant.

England in the 9th century was hugely vulnerable to Danish and Norseman attacks. Those that lived near the coast or along Englands many rivers were particularly at risk of death, pillage, rape and slavery from these devils. The shallow bottomed longships could easily navigate well inland using the numerous rivers. This longboat arrives at dawn along a river in Eastern England in spring as the campaigning season starts. Its great to see Britain's and First Legion taking up producing Viking figures once Conte had ceased trading.

You need no help in creating diorama's Gary, you do it in spades. That Conte Viking ship is magnificent. Robin.

Gary,

Wonderful dioramas! The sheer breadth of your collection is astounding! Who makes these particular figures?
