Romans seem very popular amongst manufactures these days and presumably with collectors. First up the archers go into action against the barbarian hordes.

Northern Spain 1813/14 and French infantry try to stop Wellington's motley crew of British, Portuguese regulars and Spanish irregular troops closing in on Southern France.

Now moving to Imperial China and a patrol down the Yangtze River sometime in the mid eighteenth century.

Off to Normandy June 1944 and US paratroopers take on German regular infantry and SS in a small French town.

The Western Front and US 'Doughboys' on the offensive in early autumn 1918.

The great land grab of 1846 as the US takes on Mexico to claim New Mexico, California and no doubt other lands that formerly belonged to the Spanish empire prior to Mexican independance.

Thanks Robin. I liked the Sons of the Empire range. Pity it didn't catch on and was retired. Very colourful and exotic looking on a shelf or in a cabinet. Gary

Boston Massachusetts British American Colonies 1770. The Boston Massacre as British troops open fire killing five civilians - the dawn of revolution.

Persian troops in Northern Greece at around 490 BC under the command of King Darius I. Subjugation of the rebellious Greeks and in particular the city state of Athens for its subversive activities is the reason for the invasion.

First up this weekend the 'butcher's bill'. Confederate General Lee assesses heavy loses on the hallowed ground of an American Civil War battlefield.

Belgium June 1815 and on the eve of the Battle of Waterloo British infantry skirmish with French troops.

99 years later, Belgium 1914, and British Royal Horse Artillery fight a rearguard action to stall German advances that threaten to cut off the British Expeditionary Force.

Back to Virginia 1812 and the young United States takes on the might of the Superpower that is the British redcoat. Weakened by the Napoleonic wars the Yanks win out.
