Hi Guys,

ON FRIDAY 2 APRIL 1982, Argentina invaded and occupied two small British dependent territories in the South Atlantic. Just three days later, over 8,000 miles away, Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher dispatched a Royal Navy task force to recapture the islands and liberate its British residents. A little more than ten weeks later the Argentinian occupiers were soundly defeated and the Union Jack flew again over the wind-swept islands.

How did the British manage to achieve this amazing military victory so far from home and against a much larger, entrenched opponent fighting in its own, relatively near, back yard?

Among the few advantages Britain had in this conflict was the quality of its fighting men sent ‘down south’ to carry out the vital mission... The British Marines, Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen were all professionals, led by officers (and some politicians) who had actually experienced all types of wars in all kinds of places.

This new series can only tell a small part of a very important story where, against all odds, ‘right’ triumphed over ‘wrong’ and a cruel, evil dictatorship was brought to its knees and ultimately vanquished.

Here at King & Country we eagerly look forward in 2021 to sharing our interpretation, in 1:30 scale miniature, of some of those exceptional British fighting men who fought for the freedom of the Falkland Islands and for the pride of Britain itself!

All I can say is thank you!

Leave it to K&C to produce a line featuring such a historical conflict.

I can’t wait to see the first figures in this series.

A well remembered Iconic image of a British soldier with his union jack fluttering from his aerial yomping towards Stanley during the Falklands war. Well done Andy ! :salute::

Steve

Terrific! I'm looking forward to seeing this series develop.

This will be an excellent series, thank you! Please don’t forget the Paras, Gurkhas etc

No doubt we’ll have a million Aussies turning up to save the day too!

Sounds good ...

Now for the guns ....

L118 105mm for the British and L5 105mm hoers for the Argentine.

Good news is if you make an L5 that can also be used by ANZAC Arty in Vietnam !!!!!!!

Keep those guns rolling .....

The L5 is a great idea John, and I agree with Steve. A Vietnam ANZAC crewed version would also be a must have for my collection.

I remember the conflict well Andy as it played out on our evening news all those years ago.

Can't wait to see the figures. :salute::

I wonder if a figure of Margaret Thatcher will be included in the series?
Thanks

I'd love a more detailed on to be made by K&C too.

Nelson mate,
I agree this will be an outstanding range. To answer your question, Yes we Aussies would have been there, if Maggie had of asked but the "Mother Countrys" Armed Forces had it well covered. God Save The Queen.

Cheers from the Land Down Under, Howard

PS Stay safe cobber.

The Falklands - at long, long last :salute:: :salute:::salute:: a shamefully neglected part of Britain's Military History (Toy Soldier and otherwise........)

Well done K&C. Hoping the handful of Royal Marines of Naval Party 8901 who faced the Argentine invasion force around Stanley will be included?

(A jump jet would also be very welcome) ^&grin

I had that set John, a terrific piece, I do hope K & C make it. I don't know what happened to my Britains set, I sold most of the detail range, including the Two Centurions but some I gave to my sons to fire matchsticks at their plastic soldiers. They used to have hours of fun with them, but they're not interested in my TS collection, except maybe to sell it down the track {sm4}

I am in a Argentine military FB group and those guys are really proud of their performance in this war.

As it happens, I think it’s important to note the attitude of the governing powers to the Argentinian armed forces at that time. Too many kids (like many wars), under prepared and ill-prepared.

made the French armament producers quadrillions of Francs in post conflict sales
