gunboats (1 Viewer)

Raymond,

Thanks for the warm welcome and directing me exactly where I had to go! Wow! Awesome photos, I had never seen it that close up and in color.

Hi JW,

You are most welcome.

There is another good photo of the dhow in Martyn's post #18, just above mine.

Best Wishes, Raymond.:)

Thanks Martyn,

I looked at Lawrence's as well. I wonder how many of these were produced/sold? I only have the Nile Gun Boat, but it has always been one of my favorite sets.

Hello - It's been several months since I came by and visited you and your fabulous collection. I was in town working and stopped in to visit Mike Laeding. He arranged a meeting with myself and Tommy while I was in town.
I must say Tommy's collection is massive and takes up many rooms in his fine office. I spent an hour or so looking over the collection, Tommy giving me a personal tour. I am thankful to see such a wide collection of Trophy sets. I think Mike told me you have just about ever set Trophy produced?

I came across your post this day amd could not be happier that you found the forum.

Take care and I'll see you again sometime as my travels allow.

All of the moulds and jigs still exist but they were/are very time consuming to make.

About five years ago, I recall seeing an Arab Dhow for sale on ebay and it sold for $825.00. Does anyone know of any more recent sales and the selling price?

Well... " Victoria" gunboat plus Arab Dhow were sold in the UK for app. 800 pounds an a year ago...

Assuming they were complete and in good shape, someone made a great buy. I understand the condition of the sail on the dhow may be a concern. Lawrence Lo has one in his album that belongs to a friend and Martyn says he has 4 of the figures but no dhow. Do you know of anyone else who has one and/or has it posted in an album? Thanks.

Hi Tommy

1 DERVISH GUN CREW WITH SHELL
1 DERVISH WITH BANNER

No boat yet I'm afraid but what this space;)

Cheers

Martyn:)

Martyn: Thanks for posting the figures. I suspect you are on to the acquisition of a dhow.

I just noticed that W Britain has a Nile River paddle wheel steamer with crew scheduled for release in late 2010 or early 2011. Wonder how it will compare with Trophy's?

For those of you who may be interested, I just posted some photos of the details of the "Lion"(album 12) and the "Eagle" and the "Leopard". Enjoy!

It's nice to see the boats assembled, I was just looking at the moulds the other week. They're huge, with lots of hand finnishing!

Thanks Lawrence. I hope your new year is great for you. I could probably put the camels on the "Victoria".

Martyn,

I'm sure you must have meant "for" sale and not "on" sale :D
