Re: Heco Tinplate Vehicles

Did Heco make those Hangers Louis?

Yes Brad,

Heco made Hangers as well as Nissen Huts. I have a catalogue with the prices and a photograph of the Heco Hanger (which has opening doors, skylights, and all kinds of interior detail), as well as some additional hard copy photographs of the hanger I received from Tony Williams through our good friend Clive Gande. I also have hard copy photos of a WWI Royal Air Corps Mechanic's workshop, a Radar Station, a Royal Army Medical Corps Field Hospital (two different large brick fronted nissen huts connected to make an L-shaped Hospital building, with a garden, benches to sit on, and a sign reading "Queen Victoria Hospital"), a Canteen, a cookhouse and a small field workshop, and a Barage Baloon Hanger. There are at least a dozen different Nissen huts, some of which have Brick facades and ribbed tin tops. The photos show that each one was unique, with little details like a bicycle left against the wall on some, or sign boards with notes posted on them on others. There is even a Homeguard Nissen Hut which comes with a few Homeguard figures drilling out front.

If your question is whether the nissen hut and RAF Mark III Water Tower I am getting from Marc are Heco, the answer is yes. Upon receiving them later this week, I will have two different Heco standard Nissen Huts, a Heco Wind Sock Tower and a Heco Water Tower.

I would like to get one of the Heco Hangers, more of the different Nissen Huts (especially one with the Brick Facade), and I would love to find one of the Field Hospitals.

Louis,
What an extremely classy collection! I just love these cottage industry makers like HECO.

Have a wonderful Easter!
Mike

Re: Heco Tinplate Vehicles

I love cottage industry makers in general, but especially Heco. If I can get more than fifty different Heco sets (I presently have 37, and am working on #38 right now) I might ask Tony's and Adele's permission to do a book on their wonderful products.

Re: Heco Tinplate Vehicles

Can't wait to get the Heco RAF Nissen Hut and Water Tower. I have decided to re-arrange my entire airfield, to try to be more creative and set up the airfield closer to the way Gordon Neilson originally envisioned when he first set it up for me 3 years ago. He had the whole thing set up at an angle to the viewer, as he felt it gave a more visually striking impression. I will try to follow this concept when I rearrange the field. I am thinking of setting up all five Nissen Huts (2 new K&C, 1 vintage K&C and 2 vintage Heco) on an diagonal line parallell to the angle of the runway and the control tower, and siilarly place the Heco Wind Sock Tower and the Heco Water Tower on an angle, near the Heco Nissen Huts. I will set up the Heco stuff all together near the Nissen Huts and towers, towards the rear of the airfield, so Heco has its own area.

All the Heco and K&C BiPlanes will go behind this line of Nissen Huts, for a separate WWI portion of the airfield. This should also make the airfield look a bit more authentic and less crowded than its present configuration (with WWI, inter-war, and WWII aircraft on the same field). I just have to wait for the Heco and one more K&C Nissen Hut (which I already ordered) to arrive, and then I will send Brad some photos of the redesigned airfield with a polite request that he post them on this thread.

The K&C USAAC figures and the second K&C quonset hut arrived today. The Heco Nissen Hut and RAF Mark III Tower are scheduled to arrive April 12th. I already rearranged the airfield, with spots left open for the Heco stuff when it arrives. I can't wait to take some photos of the set up once the new Heco arrives!

Re: Heco Tinplate Vehicles

I just picked up a second Heco Floatplane off ebay, slightly different then the one I already own. Photos to follow upon receipt.:)

Re: Heco Tinplate Vehicles

Looking forward to seeing your Heco collection additions. Really nice art work. --Al

Just as a goof, I used my new digital camera to take photographs of some of the hard copy photos Tony Williams of Heco had given Clive for me. To my utter shock, it actually worked.:p;) I am e-mailing Brad 9 photos of some amazing Heco stuff I had described, with a polite request that he post them for me.:)

Re: Heco Tinplate Vehicles

I will try to put them on but sometimes those photos can come out small. I'll take a look and do my best.
