Heco Tinplate Models (1 Viewer)

Thanks, Michael! Nice photos. Your Heco pusher plane is still my favorite WWI Heco aircraft.:cool:

I just wanted to say a big thank you to Martyn (GICOP), who was kind enough to make the effort to enquire with the owners of MKL Models, one of the "big three" Heco Tinplate dealers beforeTony and Adele retired, about any left over Heco items that might be willing to part with.

Martyn's efforts on my behalf exemplify the kind of good fellowship that I have repeatedly experienced from the members of this forum.:)

Sadly, MKL had long since sold off its Heco stock, but the fact that Martyn went out of his way for me still made my day. Thanks, Martyn!

Gentlemen,

As you may be aware, we usually dedicate each New York Toy Soldier Symposium to the honor of someone in the hobby (for example Andy Neilson of K&C, Bruce Whitman, B25 Mitchell Pilot and collector, or the late Doug Stock, whose widow was invited). I was thinking that perhaps next year (March, 2011), Tony and Adele Williams, the proprietors of Heco Tinplate Models, might be good candidates to be honored.

There seems to be a good amount of interest in their wonderful products (more than 14,000 views of this thread), they are friendly with our good friend Clive (Lurchio) who could personally extend them the invitation, and (their health permitting) it would be fun to honor one of the "mom and pop" cottage manufacturers that have long constituted such important contributors to the hobby. It would be very interesting to bring Tony and Adele into contact with the other manufacturers who usually attend the symposum, like Andy, John Jenkins, Rick Wang of Figarti, or Ken Osen. One could only imagine how fascinating the exchange of stories, anecdotes about the hobby, and ideas between these past and present manufacturers could be.

It could be the beginning of an entirely new element to the Symposium - invinting retired manufacturers to talk about their experiences and the history of the hobby. Len Taylor of Trophy of Wales, members of the Stadden family (sadly Chas. Stadden passed away) could also be honored in this fashion. Would those of you who have attended or plan to attend the New York Symposium be interested in meeting and speaking with these former manufacturers?

Anyone who is attending the OTSN Chicago Show and has any Heco Tinplate Models to sell or trade, please drop me a PM or e-mail. Thanks!:)

I can see the photos because I'm a FB member but if people aren't they won't be able to do so.

Yes, as you're writing your post, scroll down to manage attachments and you'll be able to add it from there. However, the Forum has size limits so you'll probably need to shrink them some.

Welcome aboard :)

Thanks for the warm welcome Brad. I'll try to shrink down the pictures that I have and then post. I think they'll be of interest to this forum. :)

Hopefully, I've added a couple of photos taken 2 weeks ago. An interesting Heco Tiplate "Iron Knight" and some essential servicing.

I had some great luck at the OTSN! I picked up another, and again slightly different, Heco Rolls Royce Armored Car (photos will be forthcoming as soon as I can download them and politely ask Brad to post them for me) and I have a lead with an old friend who has 3 more, including another armored car, a halftrack and a Junkers floatplane. I hope to acquire one or all of these as well.:)

Yo Louis, nice one mate, dont you just love it when you find the unexpected its all about the hunt. Look forward to seeing the photos BUT TROOPER, if they go up before the Chas Staddens you got there will be some serious questions asked and a possible court martial DO I MAKE MYSELF CLEAR SOLDIER:eek:.
Bernard.

Here are the photos of Heco Rolls Royce Armored Car (one in the middle).

Second picture: Front view of three Heco Armored Cars.
Third picture: Rear view.
Fourth picture: Close up the new addition!

Congrats. Made the whole show a success I'm sure.

Yo Louis, nice find mate, they look superb pieces, makes your day when you find a scarce model.
Bernard.

Picked up another, slightly different Heco Fokker DR1 Triplane (my 4th). Photos to follow upon receipt.

The new Heco Fokker Triplane arrived. I will send some photos to Brad with a polite request that he post them on this thread.:)
