Heco Tinplate Models (2 Viewers)

Re: Heco Tinplate Vehicles

Today has been a wonderful day for me Heco wise:

First of all, my second Heco Hawker Hurricane arrived, and it is way nicer than the early production version I already had.:cool::cool::cool: This one has a clear plastic canopy under the tin framework, and a Heco RAF pilot in the pilot seat. It is in the same camouflage pattern and markings as the recent K&C Strictly Limited version. I will be sending Brad some photos of both Heco Hawker Hurricanes along with a classic K&C wood Hurricane with a sliding tin canopy and the recent polystone K&C Hurricane, with a polite request that he post them on this thread.

Additionally, as you may recall, I recently bought a Heco Golster Gladiator MKI (which has a 2 blade prop). Today, I purchased a Heco Gloster Gladiator MKII with a 3 blade prop and different squadron markings.:cool: It has been a very good day!:)

Re: Heco Tinplate Vehicles

I sent Brad 4 photos of the new Heco Hawker Hurricane on my airfield diorama: a close up, a comparison to a classic K&C wood Hurricane, a comparison to my early production Heco Hawker Hurricane and a broad shot of it on the airfield, with a polite request that he post them when he gets a chance.:)

Re: Heco Tinplate Vehicles

The new Heco Gloster Gladiator MK2 I bought yesterday already arrived! I sent four photos of it on the Heco/K&C airfield diorama to Brad with a polite request that he post them for me. :) One is a comparison shot with the Heco tinplate Gladiator adjacent to a classic K&C wood Gladiator.:cool:

Re: Heco Tinplate Vehicles

Thanks for posting the photos, Brad!:)

If you look at the two Heco Tinplate Hurricanes, you will see that the newer one (with the hexagon inside a square on the wings) is a Mark I, while the older one (with two round bumps on the wings) is a Mark II.

The Gloster Gladiator Mark II is, in one of the shots, set next to a classic K&C Gloster Gladiator Mark I (with the blue and yellow streaks on the top wing).

The Heco Gladiator Mark I which I obtained thanks to the help of our good friend John (Beating Retreat) is en route, so I will soon be able to do some shots of a Heco Battle of Britain airfield with two Hawker Hurricanes and two Gloster Gladiators on the field. I only with I could get my hands on some of the Heco RAF Pilots and groundcrew figures to display on the airfield.

Re: Heco Tinplate Vehicles

That Gladiator is a real beauty, as is the Bleriot sitting next to it. Got your own Hurricane squadron in the making, too. -- Al

Re: Heco Tinplate Vehicles

Thanks, Al! Between K&C and Heco, I have a lot on my wish list for the air wars. I would love to be able to afford one of the new K&C Gloster Gladiators in the desert markings, and I would love to be able to put a Heco Tinplate Junkers JU52 next to my classic K&C wood Junkers JU52 on a big fallshirmjaeger diorama . . .:cool:

Re: Heco Tinplate Vehicles

That is a very nice display of stuff you have. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Heco Tinplate Vehicles

Did you guys notice that both the MK1 and MK2 Hurricane and the Gloster Gladiator MK2 are in the markings of the Hurricane MK1 (UF-K P3886) flown by Flying Officer Carl Davis of 601 Squadron, Tangmere, Sussex, in July and August of 1940.

601 Squadron was never equipped with Gloster Gladiators. The only squadron with Gladiators that participated in the Battle of Britain was 247 Squadron, stationed in Robourgh, Devon.

K&C isn't the only manufacturer who made the occasional mistake or took some artistic license with its warbirds . . . ;)

Re: Heco Tinplate Vehicles

The Heco Gloster Gladiator MK1 arrived safely today :) . . . I will forward some photos to Brad later today with a polite request that he post them on this thread.

Re: Heco Tinplate Vehicles

I just sent Brad 5 photographs of the Heco Gloster Gladiator MK1, including a couple of comparison shots alongside the classic K&C Gloster Gladiator MK1, and the Heco Gloster Gladiator MK2. I also tried to take a closup of the cockpit, which has a seat, instrument panel, stick and pedals, all made of tin.:cool:

Thanks, Jeff!:) It is incredible that Tony and Adele were able to get such amazing results from a sheet of tin and some modeling paint! The more Heco stuff I see, the more amazed I am, real works of art . . .

By the way, does anybody know if Heco ever made a WWI German Zeppelin?

Thanks for the very informative post, Louis. There are nearly 100 items and going through all the posts must have been time consuming. Appreciate the effort. -- Al
