Today I received the Britains sets, which I spent my Christmas Toy Soldier budget on, the Christmas sets 2002 thru 2006.
All of them are beautiful sets and the first one I want to feature, is the 2005 set (Horseguards at the bar).
Great idea, great poses, great Toy Soldier finish, great set :D I love it :)

Stunning!!! I think this is a holy grail for a lot of Britains collectors. This is the first time I have seen one (other than a photo in a flyer). It kind of reminds me of Johns work. It has a similar style about it.

Thanks Konrad.

Hi Konrad,

Outstanding! What a nice Christmas scene! I think you spent your budget very, very wisely. These figures are most impressive and they compliment the remainder of your collection quite well. Thank you so much for showing them to us!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

Thanks, Scott and Pat,
your are right, all these sets do compliment my British Empire collection, since the figures shown are all from the Victorian period, while the last three 2010.2009 and 2008 are from the Napoleonic era.

Absolutely brilliant purchase Konrad. I had no idea these figures existed. Very nice and agree the style seems similar to John's things. Will look forward to seeing the rest of these when you post them. :)

Mister Dave,
these figures are awesome indeed ;), much better then I expected, which is always a good thing when you unwrap some Toy Soldiers that you have not seen eye to eye before.
Here's another one, it's the 2004 set "11th Hussars gathering mistletoe for the holiday". Very unique!

Oh, isn't that just the truth. And such a bummer when the opposite happens and they disappoint you immediately.

I like this second set a lot as well and am fairly keen on the 11th Hussars. Also think the horse is very well done in this set. Keep em coming now.....:)

Konrad,

fine examples of a gloss toy soldier.... BUT there is one major uniform detail wrong...

You shouldn't wear headdress in mess... :(

Or someone has to buy for bar :)

Cheers... for showing us this set AND the Mistletoe, I think I prefer that one if you are giving any away :) :)

John

Beautiful sets you have posted so far Konrad.

Cheers

Martyn:)

Konrad, awesome, I too just recently located this set, it is grand along with the winter sets. Did you get the JG base?

Great finds Konrad these are 2 super sets as Scott said the Horseguards at the bar is almost like the hollygrail!!! I'm glad I've finnaly seen some up close & detailed pic's of it thanks for sharing them with us,

Cheers Craig

Very nice! Now if only they would do the same thing but with Imperial German troops.

Prost!
Brad

Hi Guys,

Since I have these two sets I can certainly atest to how wonderful they really are in person! Great finds Konrad. I am still looking for the other sets that went with these and could all be placed in a base together. Someday!

Brad that is a great idea especially since the Germans do Christmas in a big way! I would love to see some Imperial Hussars and Uhlans in similar sitiuations or perhaps down at the Christmas Market with their wives and some of that wonderfully mulled warm Gluhwien! Maybe we can convince Richard to produce some.

Dave

Prost Neujahr, there, Dave!

I've had an idea about a display like that, ever since I saw the Victorian/Edwardian building front sold by some British manufacturer whose name escapes me. It was a multi-story set piece, set on a street corner, and I think it had some interior as well. It reminds me of the early scene in the Berlin restaurant from "The Life and Times of Colonel Blimp", and I've always thought that would be a great dio to re-create.

Prost!
Brad

Yes it is a nice set but it would be much improved by scarlet tunics and white plumes!:D:D:D

I always liked "The gymnasium of the Second Guard Uhlans":)

Brad,

Funny how you and I seem to have so many similar likes! I love that movie as well! I have only seen it a few times over the years but when ever I notice its on I try to watch it. Will have to see if I can get it on DVD sometime. Great flick!

One of the things I really like about these glossy Christmas sets is they can all stand alone and tell their story. Also makes for a great series of temporary displays I can put up for the Holidays and put away once they are over.

Hi Tom,
the JG base was not offered/available with this lot. I saw it at one of Craig's posts and it looks nice, but I am fine with displaying them seperately.
Did you get the base when you located winter sets?
Konrad
