Just got my 88!! (2 Viewers)

Yeah, you couldn't pick much worse terrain for an armored attack, forested, hilly, soft wet ground conditions, narrow windy roads, numerous rivers and creeks.etc.

The towed Flak 18/36/37s served with the heavy flak units until the very end. Its use in the anti-tank role diminished somewhat after the widspread deployment of the Pak40 (a superior AT gun overall) as well as more of the self propelled AT guns becoming available.

For me the grey base color would place this in the winter of '42/'43 at the latest (Kharkov would be perfect).

There were many 88s at the Bulge with the towed 88s often used as field artillery. The thickly forested Ardennes did not give the towed 88s as much of an anti-tank role as in North Africa or the Russian steppes.

Terry

Thanks for the info

Got my 88 and Prime mover today. The detail and everything about them is excellent!

Thanks to George I got my 88 and prime mover this weekend, really great detail, looks like it would go better with First Legion than K&C (detail wise).
#10 prime mover and 007 on the 88, "shaken not stirred"
Had one small problem with the 88, towing arm broken in shipment, it was a clean break and super glue did the trick.
The only complaint I have about the whole set is the seat for the seated figure aligns so that the stabilizer leg on that side cannot be put into the travelling position, I had hoped to set the 2 up as in transit, I may, with a little research find out how the seat folds away during travel so I can set it up the way I planned.
Really nice figures, I'd say they have reached parity with K&C, the difference is the subdued, war torn look, another really nice feature was all the figures with 88 shells, the shells look to be turned brass, very nice touch!
These two are the real deal, the best I've seen.

I must say the 88mm gun and prime mover are "EXCELLENT".....very well done indeed........"Hats off" to Figarti for some excellent work......no damage......must be treated very gently in removing from packaging........The prime mover is especially well done.....even better than the 88mm gun itself IMO

Just asking here, were there any 88 guns at the Bulge.

I recall reading that there was an elite unit called the Fuehrer Begleit Brigade which had a load of 88's & were brought up specifically to pound Bastogne

I just received my firefly, prime mover, 88 and highlanders ready set, and I must say I am quite more than pleased. Infact, I am just blown away. I must thank everyone at Treefrog for procuring these fine pieces, and delivering them safe and sound. Everything was received intact with no damages whatsoever :). Figarti deserves credit not only for these stellar creations and unmatched attention to detail, but also for their packaging materials. The vehicles are tightly and safely packed in special form-fitting cutouts designed for each specific piece. The foam is a solid, seemingly rubber impregnated and "shock absorbing" material that really protects the items well. Like Ray, my favorite piece is the prime mover, but all of these new releases are truly exceptional. The figures are outstanding as well, and feature the fine characteristics of the latest and best Figarti figures. The paint jobs are show a devoted level of attention (I have to look again to see if they are still doing the fingernails!). The firefly is incredibly well made and simply demans your attention when displayed; I can't get over how Figarti has really nailed the fine line bewteen the subtle yet striking weathering. The tiny weld details must be seen to be appreciated. And, of course, the new Figarti pieces work perfectly well w/ K & C; they really compliment each other wonderfully. I really consider myself lucky to own these fine creations. I'm anxious (and fearful:eek::)) to see what's forthcoming in Chcago! Congratulations to Rick and Co. for such breathtaking, stellar work. Fantastic job:D. Sorry, no pics yet guys. My camera is toast (I fumbled it like butter fingered running back), but I hope to have a new one soon...it was time anyway. Now if I can just stop buying soldiers! :p

I agree the prime mover is better IMO to,i found the 88 to be a bit smaller and lighter than i thought it would be.Compared to CSC and K+C,s 88s but only a minor detail i reckon its still a great piece arrived today and figarti are doing a great job, well done.
