K&c Armor: Wrong Scale? (1 Viewer)

I would love all mfg. to have fidelity to a consistent advertised scale, but I am fast believing that to be impossible..I am never sure about all these scale conversion charts and programs out there, but when I put in the actual measurements for each tank and convert them to inches, all my tanks from anyone, usually come out too small. My new NMA Tiger and my K/C Panther all convert to being 2 plus inches too short. It is enough to make a rivet counter cry, but because no one is getting it right , I realize that I will have to compromise my preferences or not buy anyone's vehicles...Try it yourself, take the realtime length and width of a Tiger ,Panther, whatever and punch it into the prior linked convert program. Take a tape measure to your favorite K/C,NMA,HB vehicle and weep.:(..Do not have much else to add to the moans of those who feel cheated as to anyone's advertised scale...Michael

I second what was said in a previous post. If your after scale models, buy a scale model kit. If your after toys which represent historical subject matter, buy toy soldiers. Just like the hobby of model trains you have true scale models, and then you have toys like Lionel, MTH, and LGB. I'm always amused when I see people post that they buy toy soldiers as investments. Makes me think of the baseball card craze of the 80's. How many of those "Investors" wish they could just break even. And how many just ended up tossing they're investments in the trash. A stock is an investment, a property is an investment, a CD is an investment. When was the last time you heard a a financial expert on CNBC recommend investing in toy soldiers ? I know when my accountant comes over to do my taxes, I've never heard him says wow those are some cool investments you have all over your freakin house. I collect toy soldiers because I enjoy looking at them. The sculpts the painting like small works of art. Do I care if they're is a 10% difference in the vehicles and the figures - nope. If anyone is planning an "Out Of Scale Sale" please post it so I can get in on it too :)

These continuing size errors makes me wonder who in King & Country actually does "oversee every stage of design, development and production in mainland China"

I suspect most K & C collectors have been quiet about this issue because they are not yet aware of the facts  For example, Old Tanker who is apparently a long term K & C collector has just found out about the size errors.

Btw guys, you don't have to be a "rivet counter" or carry a calculator with you when buying model tanks.

All you need to know is that the hull deck (excluding the turret) of a Panther, Tiger and King Tiger were about the same height as a six foot tall soldier. Therefore any figure you see that is significantly taller than the hull deck of these tanks is oversized. For example most K & C WWII figures are shoulder height compared to the hull of the Forces of Valour tanks.

True enough OzDigger.

Collectors, as the product, have matured and buyers are much more critical today with good reason having the potential to spend many thousands of dollars.

I do sympathize with OT and those that have an eye for scale.
If it was not an issue for many in the collecting community then it would not keep popping up.
IMO if you market 1/30 it ought to be 1/30 or put “Scale Varies” on it.
To do otherwise I don't think will be met with such open arms with future collectors.

Im not so impressed by the new MarketGarden range, I'll get one of the jeeps but thats it, Im branching off, I've got enough K&C anyhow. I really like my new HB tank and pre-ordered some of Collectors Showcase Arnhem sets too. I hope those manufacturers can stick to one scale at least, this is just too much now Andy conceding that all of the prior tanks were mis-scaled and coming out with correctly scaled armor pieces? Strange, I don't like it.

Can i ask what you don't like the Market garden range

I believe that those of us, that were underwhelmed, felt that the poses were a littlle too much generic to what has been released before in every recent WW2 line...As much hoopla that the promise of this line was generating, some of us were hoping for more dynamic action figures....Michael

True :(
I've been told the Rec jeep wrong to

At Arnhem, the Recce Jeeps only carried one forward-facing Vickers 'K

ah well , just snap of the other ones, problem solved:D:D

The Heid is missing a gun for his LDRG jeep , sure he'd be delighted with it

Well, maybe we're seeing some individuals excellent sense of inovation here by adding an extra gun to their jeep....;);)
Mind you, as RH says, I am in the market for any spare brens that are superfluous to requirements.
Cheers

I think these quality control issues are important. K and C is very big now and when that happens sometimes the control over things becomes problematic.
Britains had a similar problem back in the early part of the current decade. I think K and C is not nearly in the same predicament as Britains was at the time but it must be addressed. The Britains millenium coach ( Victorias state coach) had to be witdrawn because of quality control issues and look what happend to Britains.

Re: K&C Armor: Wrong Scale?

:) I Like K & C the SAS Jeep and the CWT-30 Trucks LRDG! I want to Purchase the Arnhem REECE Jeeps, but I would like to hear from anyone on this Forum , who already purchase them! I have K & C 3- Original Arnhem Jeeps and they're Small! I would like for Andy, to make another SAS Jeep, similar to Figarti's with Map Reading men, or Drinking Tea?

What! The jeeps are to small as well, that's just to much.

Btw, I understand there will be a British tank crew Drinking Tea set representing 30 Corps at Arnhem ;)

hello everybody.

i'm new here, but have been following up the forum for quite a while.

Just wanna say that i share Old Tanker 7.5 opinion.

Though i greatly admire King & country (especially the figures), due to the incorrect scale, i decided to move towards Honour bound items, even though their items are more expensive (especially with my asian currency ) and have less items.

Very funny Oz - got to be the best one this week - liked it very much! Don't you know the British Army do nothing without a brew first!?

Also hello to NASIRKASMANI - very cool name!
