Hi Fishead.

FANTASTIC STUFF!!!!!!!!

I do love your plastic dio`s ,Thankyou for sharing ,you've made my day.

very best wishes Mark.

Thanks Mark! I love your dios as well, keep them coming! I wish I could still afford metal figures but these new high metal prices are killing me and with the new home payments I,m forced back into a plastic collector.:(
Oh well I guess I,ll just have to work on improving my painting and converting skills?

No one can beat your dios for scope Tim! Amazing collection. How big is your display?

I've just recently moved into metals, and am starting on the Napoleonics now. Some of the collections shown here are amazing and quite an inspiration. Would I be right to think that some of the 95th Rifles figures shown though are the Britains ones? They seem to work really well with the K & C figs - is that the case? How compatable are they?

On the topic of the 95th, I suppose K & C will bring out their own version at some point. I also don't think there are any British line troops yet? I imagine this has been covered in another thread somewhere but has anyone any thoughts on what K & C have planned for this range?

You can have a look here at post #3 for a photo size comparison of the 4 main Napoleonics lines in this size range.

I find that the Britains figures fit best with First Legion and Collectors Showcase fits best with K&C, mostly because of the relative girth of the figures, as well as their heights. The Britains 95th are even a bit more refined that the older British line figure in that photo. CS has the 95th but their faces and poses are not to my taste. First Legion has committed to doing the Waterloo sine qua non figures, which includes the Rifles, and when they do them, no doubt they will be first class.

The 95th figs are indeed Britains and work well with KC. You can see them in pics I posted earlier in this thread. Also some of the figs in the Black Watch square are Brits as well. They are smaller than KC but it's individual preferences as to compatability. A "purest" may have a different opinion.

I don't think you have to be a purist to have a different opinion mate.:)

Just meant up to individual opinion as whether to mix types with some size difference. No offense intended. :D
No problem, none taken; thanks for the clarification though; I wasn't quite ready to consider myself "one who is concerned chiefly with insignificant detail.":D I also quite agree that what you mix together is up to each individual.;)

I just stick a couple of shrubs between different manufacturers...no one ever notices...or if they do, they are too polite to say so...wait...what am I saying...if you knew my friends, they must just not be noticing.

Thanks for those replies guys, that helps. I've looked at the list of regiments at the battle for which line regiment might get a run. I think I favour the 33rd - which I think was later known as the Duke of Wellingtons. Another option is the 27th - but then most stances would have to be casualty ones....

I presume you are preparing a Waterloo display (lots of 27th casualties). I am painting two companies of 27th now, but prior to the devasting artillery casualties. The 33rd (Yorkshire West Riding) is an excellent choice and not often depicted. It is the regiment that Wellington served with as captain in the West Indies and was heavly involved in the latter part of the Waterloo battle (as well as Quatre Bras). Which manufacturer's figures do you plan to use to depict them?

I won't have the money to do a proper Waterloo dio. My plan is to represent the British army as it evolved, at this stage, 1745 - 1770s, Napoleonic and 1879-80ish. Each period will get its own shelf, and will feature two lines of Brits back-to-back, fending off some of more colourful enemies of the period. For the middle period I'm just going to stick with the French - though maybe 1812 Americans too down the track. Anyway, I have room to show 4 of the 'types' of British soldiers. I have 42nd Highlanders and will get the Coldstream Guards soon. I've had my eye on Britains 95th Rifles and all I'll need then is some line troops to even things out. I have a thread in the discussion forum outlining my thoughts on it all. I'm open on which manufacturer, but most will be K & C for this period. I just think that as they're doing a few lines a year as it is they're likely to do British Line and 95th Rifles at some point soon. This also gives me a chance to direct my limited funds at some of the other periods noted above.

I see...well, if you are representing a Foot Guard unit, you will already have blue facings. The 33rd had red facings (not visually very interesting IMO for your display...27th facings are buff and may give you a bit more variety...strictly for visual impact, of course.

You really know your stuff Nicholas! Given the colours of the Coldstream, 42nd and 95th - which Line Regt would provide the most interesting addition?

Well, you have a Highland Regt (kilts), a Rifles Regt (green), and a Foot Guard Regt (which looks very much like most line infantry - although the color of the jackets was technically scarlet, unlike the red of the line infantry - which also really varied from regiment to regiment, and even within regiments, depending on where the fabric had been dyed). Although there will be some contention on this issue, many believe that the Coldstream Guards were, in fact wearing the tropical white trousers at Waterloo, whereas your other line infantry will likely be in the grey overalls). If you want something a little different you might want to consider the 71st Light Infantry (which, while a Highland regiment, wore traditional British Line uniforms with the exception of dicing on the shako (just a slightly different look). K&C and Del Prado have both produced these if you want to reference them. But if you are not concerned with depicting all your Napoleonics necessarily from Waterloo, you might depict any regiment from the Peninsula campaign, as uniform requirements underwent some revision in 1812. While the overall look of the Peninsula uniforms is generally the same, there are a few interesting distinctions...again, just for some visual variety.

Thanks Warrior and Terp for the nice words about my collection (and it's only a small part of it :))!
I am still working on the wall plate for the second gun since its size and weight is a challenge. It's a full size - not firing - replica of Napoleon's double barrel flintlock pistol made in 1806 by Jean-Baptiste Vaquette de Gribeauval. The first one (already on the wall plate) is also a full size replica of the standard Napoleonic 1806 flintlock Pistol (made by de Gribeauval too). Both have working mechanisms. I have also the powder horn that comes with them :).
These beauties are made in Spain and I will post more pics when I am done with the plate work.

Here you go:

Guys we really need to bring this thread back around to KING & COUNTRY FIGURES ONLY.

I love and appreciate all the Napoleonic things that are appearing in this thread - but, to stay true to the rules of the forum - we should restrict ourselves with sharing pictures of our KING & COUNTRY FIGURES.

Now who has not show us their collection ??

Are a few for the viewing :D :
