Was in a good mood until I started reading this thread, let's change the subject. Oh and I know what you are talking about. I had two prostate biopsies because of high psa test, both proved negative. I know I'm putting my head in the sand but after the second biopsy I refuse to do the psa test. The anxiety and the biopsys, one of the most painfull things I ever had done, I'll just roll the dice.

Spellcheck can be a double-edged sword. Had a colleague who ran it on a memo, and the Lotus Notes plug-in alerted on "wharehouse." Computer programs don't lie, so John let it do the correction. So it was, that the following missive circulated its way through the organization, "If anyone wants anything from the whorehouse, please let me know." It makes one wonder how more thoroughly computers can screw mankind.;)

Did you order anything?

Nah, it was business-hours. Besides, the facility in question specialized in employee withdrawals rather than deposits. I could say a lot more, but I've got my free-association gear on lock-down as a preventive measure. "Stream of consciousness" is one thing, tsunamis are quite another. Trust me, it's better for everyone this way.;)

That sounds horrendous Gary, I've heard the PSA test is not all that accurrate and it should always be accompanied with the physical examination for best results. Just thinking about it makes my eyes water!

Biopsies are worse still, a high chance of getting a serious infection, can be fatal.

It's starting to sound like the cure is worse than the disease!

I understand from my own GP that the blood test can give false negetives and shouldn't be relied upon on their own and should be used as more of an indicator over time if further investigation is warranted. I think I'd want a second opinion before I went down the biopsy path, which sounds like a last resort to me.

Guys, I'm so sorry I started down this direction, it was ment to be a joke to lighten up this whole thing.
I certainly didn't want to upset so many members. Sorry I even dabbled in a subject (scale issues) that means nothing to me.

Ray, don't worry about it mate, this has been the most interesting thread we've had for ages, although the poor Mods may be pulling their hair out by now.^&grin

Ray, don't worry about it, some humor makes it easier to discuss matters like this.

The final solution in order not to evoke emotive response is to buy what you like. Just don't ask any size questions, size does not matters.

Reminds me of the story when Prince Charles came to NY in the 80s and paid visit to Mayor Koch. For those of you who didn't know Koch, he was your typical New Yorker. His trademark question was "How Am I Doing?" Anyway, one of the reporters, in talking to Hizz Honor about the meeting, remarked that the Prince was bald like the Mayor. Koch, always ready with the quip, responded: "I'm not bald, I'm balding."

The potential for infection from a Prostate Biopsy procedure is virtually eliminated by pumping you full of Cipro pre and post op. I had it done under a local anesthetic so I could observe the procedure; which involved both a Bladder exam with a Cystoscope and a Transrectal Biopsy with 11 cores taken of the Prostate Gland. The procedure was interesting but painful; both during and post op for several days. The pain was mostly from a stressed Urethra from the Cystoscope; not the Biopsy. I can't recomend having both procedures at the same time!

You were lucky Kat, brother of a work mate spent several weeks in hospital, nearly died. It's known to be a risky procedure which is why they pump you full of antibiotics pre/post op.

Not trying to scare people off getting a biopsy, just saying there are risks with it.

Not the right thread perhaps, but as most forum members are males and in the relevant age bracket I don't see any harm in discussing these matters, could save a life.
