Yes, Tom is quite correct. I don't have a financial connection with K & C other than being a collector of K & C. On occasion I have criticized K & C much to Andy's dislike. However, it doesn't take much to see that Ixec has a conflict of interest and is not objective.

In addition, Andy and K & C have been dragged through the mud mercilessly and unnecessarily lately and that really needs to stop.

Could someone specify for those of us who are just collectors what the conflict of interest is here? A problem on this forum seems to be determining what is unbiased collector feedback and what is opinion influenced by some direct or indirect relationship with a particular manufacturer. In some cases, there is an allegation that an individual has a connection with a particular manufacturer to discredit their opinion but no evidence is ever presented. I can't think of any reason the specific nature of the relationship should not be disclosed on the forum and let others decide if it has influenced the opinion of the poster. Maybe that has been done here, but I haven't come across it.

It seems to be that people take umbrage if you don't like what they like, why it should matter to them is beyond me. It's all a matter of personal taste, people need to move on.

I am waiting for someone to be beaten up and have their lunch money stolen. :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

WOW-only 11,000 views and counting. I can not remember this much action on a topic during my tenure on the Forum. As for the respective aircraft, I will simply wait to see the finished versions in person. Was there ever an official explanation from K&C in regards to the FW kite posted here on the forum that I missed other than the Marketing description?

Look the reason I said what I did is because I have very limited space, when I walk into the room with my collection I want them all to catch your eye, I can't afford to put 3 190's out there so the one I choose better look good! I posted here as opposed to the TGM thread because I'm not out to start a fight, that being said IXXX has posted some in your face comments against K&C and while technically a good looking plane, are these "Generic" "off the shelf" paint jobs really the way to announce what I think is a big step and very well executed new line by TGM?
There are simply so many Iconic paint schemes for such a great aircraft it's just a real let down for me. though the figures look really great.
I wish all the sucess in the world to TGM and have many of there products, but I have to be choosy.
 
Can one or a handfull of forum members who may, or, may not have some loyalty to a new company really distort the dyed-in-the wool mentality of K&C collectors? I really do not think so

Its really healthy IMO to have a number of matt manufacturers making sets for collectors and, why its become so personal to some is quite beyond me.

Lets not forget, its a release, the hobby and supposed to be fun and, not taken so seriously. Lots more important things to worry and concern ourselves about.

Also I must say that even though I am a big supporter of one company I never feel the need to go onto another producers thread and bad mouth their product? It's just common decency, if you don't want to buy something why feel the need to insult or ridicule the product? It's another example of this modern thing ' I can so I will ' sort of thing and stuff eveyone else. :rolleyes:

And everyone seems brave when hidden behind a screen name. I often wonder how much of what goes on here would happen face to face? Have there been any punch ups at any of the toy soldiers shows ???

I think a lot of collectors cross buy so to speak and, don't think there are many really who buy just one comapanies work There will be some but, on the whole how many collectors on here could say, I have nothing but this manufacturer. There is so much to choose from and its nice to vary things.

I thought the whole point of these sites et al was to discuss products and included in that would be constructive critique of the available works. I go on different manufacturers and do that but, I buy from a range of makers from Matt to glossy but, I don't think its wrong per se to say that a set may not be up to expectations or that you do not like it as long as you can support the argument and stance you have taken.

Ridiculing or, antagonising collectors of one maker is something that I would have thought the moderators could stop quite quickly though, I am not telling people how to run the site.

There is some who enjoy winding up others and every site will have some who value this over proper debate.

I agree absolutely, nothing wrong with open and polite discussion of who likes what and who doesn't, but that sort of snide sniping that goes on is pretty sad.

As for the mods etc, it must be truly tedious to keep deleting posts which must also spoil the flow of things,also as adults they are kind of hoping we can play nicely among ourselves,but I am afraid that's not often the case.

quite right but, from what I have seen and, watched you experience it lately surely, they can have a word in the shell like of those who feel the need to aggravate??

I enjoy some of the debates but, maturity often does not accompany debate in a lot of things not just on here. Its still all good fun though and thats what its all about

You have it quite right Mitch. Stating a fact or even an opinion about anyone's product seems perfectly fine and actually useful. Suggesting that opinion is biased because one collects that brand is on the one hand obvious and on the other irrelevant. Everyone who has some investment is one product line is to some extent naturally biased toward it but their statements of fact, if true, and opinions, if fair, should not be the basis for scorn. Contrary to the suggestions of some, facts really are different than opinion. How the given sculpting or paint of a product is done and how it compares to reality is fact; how that appeals to one or its relative importance is the opinion. IMHO, there would be much less emotional turmoil here if that simple distinction were recognized and if "those who enjoy winding others up" were properly identified and dealt with. Criticism is healthy; unprovoked antagonism and ridicule are not, even when thinly disguised as humor.:)
 
Mitch,Yeah it's never nice, but I think the mods are on top of things and crack down when needed. I have really learnt who my friends are over the last few days and it is a positive from an unpleasant experience

Rob,

Not been on long but, was in agreement with you and, on another day it could well have been me. Nothing wrong IMO about being a proud Englishman and even prouder of what we did and, continue to do in all the conflicts.

Its probably worth an argument every now and then to let it be known. But only now and then!!!!
