Follow Aussie collector, Howard Woods wanted K&C to add a vehicle to thier Australian Light Horse range, a German Staff Car as depicted in the movie "The Lighthorsemen" and so he asked Andy to make one for him. The reply was "Not possible" so Howard decided to obtain a Kaiser's Staff Car (FW013) and the asked me to repaint it into the appropriate colour scheme for Palestine 1917 -18.

I accepted the challenge, so over the next week or two, I will be posting images of this work, and hopefully when its gone back to Howard's place, we will see it gracing the battlefield.

By the way, this is an image of the real vehicle.... after a meeting with the Aussies

I know that this post should go into the painting area, but I think it will be of more interest to K&C Collectors.

This is the original K&C car:

My first task was to use 'gentle pursuasion' to remove the wheels, then the spare tyre and finally the driver.

Now, on with the first task, kitting the driver into Tropical kit..... a repaint...... and I've started on him already

More to follow..... what do you think Howard ????????

Not possible? Not even for a good mate? {eek3}

Anyway, this is our gain. John, I look forward to your making Howard's wish into a reality :smile2:

Creative conversion...........perhaps a coversion of the K&C Desert 8th Army Rolls to the "Blue Mist" (name of Lawrence of Arabia's Armored Car as he attacked the Turkish Rail lines to the East of Bersheeba) is a future project on your workbench??.

Walt mate,
You must have been reading mine and John's emails as two EA44 Desert Armoured Cars are in transit to Obee for conversion to WW1 Palestine. These AC were used by the 1st Armoured Car Unit attached to the Lighthorse Divisions in 1917 for recon.
The Brits and also Lawrence's men also used them. I am more interested in enlarging my Beersheeba dio. We need more Aussies.^&grin^&grin
Cheers Howard

Al mate,
Andy never misses an opportunity to increase his ranges and supply collectors with what they want, but K&C is a business and the whims of one collector do not rate a run of say 1000 vehicles.
Before I asked John to repaint my Kaiser Car, I spoke at length with Andy about the project and also about the EA44 conversion. He, like he does with all collectors, answered my emails promptly and with great detail. I, for one am proud to call this man a mate.
Cheers Howard

Gentlemen, an exciting looking project, I look forward to seeing future instalments from John. Howard, you are going to create/possess an outstanding Beersheeba dio, good luck with the project…Alby

What a great project and most interesting to watch it come along.
Thanks for sharing.

Wayne mate,
Painting takes concentration and nerves of steel.^&grin You cannot paint with a brush in one hand and a beer in the other.^&grin Not at least on any of my AFVs.
Another Sandgropper who with be sadly missed in Brisbane and Melbourne. If we keep drinking to the good health of those absent then we are going to be in a bad state at the end of the night. Chris (Simmo) please take note.
Cheers Howard:smile2:
