I don't have a problem with buy if you like as that is what we all do in our lives. As far as giving him a couple of days to answer, it doesn't seem out of bounds for him to reply in a reasonable amount of time -- maybe not a couple of days -- as to this question. However, it's a question people would like know the answer. Don't you want to know? I certainly do.

Not in the least Brad, first I don't collect WW1 and secondly if I liked it I would buy it, I imagine it would make a nice display.

I agree it would make a nice display. I have the original German issues when this series kicked off and the Wagen would look good there. At any rate, I will probably get some of the new generals, although not the Kaiser as I have that already.
 
As a dealer I would have to say I prefer to sell items I know existed.

If an item such as the WWI armoured car did not exist then I point this out to any prospective buyer. This is becuase I would not want him to later have somebody tell him it is not a true vehicle. However even after pointing this out people still bought it.

Just my view.

I had heard of the Kaiser's vehicle that he used to visit the front lines, which he did fairly often. When I saw the photo of the K&C model, it looked familiar. But I couldn't find any actual reference to it in military books or on the internet.

So I contacted the Landships Forum, a small forum that discusses WWI tanks, trucks and armoured cars. I asked if anyone had heard of such a vehicle. It took a few days, but I got a surprising response.

"I find this inquiry very interesting.I have searched for some years for the elusive Kaiser Staffwagen. I have run across a few mentions of said Kaiserwagen here and there but no solid proof. I would be very interested in finding out if such a vehicle really existed. I am attaching a rather large photo of the King and Countrys version of the Kaiserwagen??????Just to give an Idea to those scratching there heads as to what to look for. Good Luck on your Quest."

I seem to have gone full circle. There are apparently some vague references to the Staffwagen, but no hard evidence. I think Andy has done an excellent job in creating such a vehicle - even so far as impressing a WWI vehicle forum to use the K&C model as an example of what to look for :D

In WW1 Germany had only one armored car built
An Ehrhardt E-v/4 4x4 total 33 in 1917
I have a picture which do not ressemble the KC built
I have the KC built it's ok although i'm not into fantasie
OK Andy u ow us a Daimler scout car (Africa)
 
I have to admit that from a sheer entertainment value, this forum is by far the best thing going on the internet, you guys are just priceless.

This thread and the longest goodbye in internet history going on in another thread in another section of the site, both four star award winners.

Maybe one of the forum members who fought in World War I can chime in here and solve the mystery regarding this fine vehicle, so let's hear it, any 110 year old members out there who can help with this?

I'm still waiting for a German member who fought in the Battle of the Bulge to authenticate BBG 039 too, that's another question that keeps me up at night; someone must like it, not a one to be had anywhere other than on Ebay...........

The WW1 armored car was a complete fabrication. I found features and parts of 3 different armored cars that were all thrown together in the final model..Michael
 
Found these. There is also a group called the Landship Forum. They are as knowledgeable about this stuff as anyone out there. I was once a member some time ago, but have since left my info lapse..These photos are getting closer..Michael

Soldiers are very resorceful.They are rigging up all kind of contracptions.Anything could have been built back then.

I am somewhat puzzled by all of these recent log comments can someone inform me what its all about??

As for the vehicle in question I have a good friend who works for the IWM and specializes in WW1 and, he has no idea what this vehicle is about though he is firing me hopefully today, some pics of vehicles that the Kaiser did use on the very frequent trips he used to the front that are available. When I get them I will post them up

There was some hilarity recently when after the Snow Tiger was released a question was raised about which side of the Tank should logs be carried on.

Can't help but chime in:

1. This is a nice display piece for the figures whether it existed or not. I think everyone agrees on that. However, I would like to know whether it existed, that is a FAIR question.

2. The Rammjager - for the final time, I believe to this day that it was a conceptual, never put in production (obviously) design. Andy used his creative license in the marketing material. The Rammjager in my collection represents a type of weapon the Reich was trying to develop. It sits near V2 Rockets in my household! No biggie.

3. The Armored car - can't comment, I know it is a real thorn to most, I just ignored it and didn't buy it!

Cooler heads should wait for Andy's comments and call it a day. No reason to jump on either side, let's just see what he says and go from there.

Must say that I quite like the staffwagon. The piece is expensive, so before I buy it, I require that I know if it existed or not. I simply will not buy a piece that didn't exist. So far I have not been able to confirm this through photos or otherwise. By the same token, that does not mean it didn't exist. More ominous is that no one else seems to be able to confirm it's existence and KC has not said one way or the other, yet. No bashing or criticism meant, I just need to know. -- Al
