King & Country book (1 Viewer)

Got my book, you guys did a great job on it. I am looking forward to the next one.

Thank you for the kind feedback. Three more are almost finished with more in the works. I have an editorial problem  and wonder whether I might ask our hosts for a poll? The format I went for in the first volume is coffee table book size >A4 with premium quality paper. This limits the book to 160 pages I have now discovered. The warbirds vol2 and glossies vol3 will be edited and continued in the same format as it fits the subject scale best.

The problem with these books, as they are literally printed to order, is the unit price is relatively high, though about the same as a vehicle or maybe a box of four soldiers (and how else do you get to enjoy reading about and seeing 300 photos of the rarest and oldest K&C pieces?).

The modern wars volume we have experimented in in A4 size rather then the coffee table hardback of the first volume and would have half the number of pages of the first volume. The photos are smaller and it is also very difficult to fit text in so this is short to the point of being terse.

But - in this format, if you wanted hard back and good paper, then two volumes would be no cheaper than one coffee table book, but the smaller book can be ordered in soft cover, so could be cheaper. The coffee table size does not allow soft cover.

My Question - Should I continue in a 'standard' of hard back, premium paper, coffee table book format - in which case I would probably merge Modern wars with the desert (crusades and WW2)? This would make a nicer set on the shelf perhaps? Or - two smaller books where you can choose your own soft/hard quality or ordinary paper format?

Any and all feedback, within the boundaries of taste and decorum would be appreciated.

Finally, as per Louis' email above, I should like to express our thanks to Norman Joplin who published the review in the May issue of Old Toy Soldier magazine. Please buy his excellent journal!:D

Hope that you are all OK and having a great time.

Thanks for the feedback. I have had one other give feedback the same.

Do others agree or disagree?

Has anybody read this review? I haven't been able to get access to it, and I would like to know what they thought . . .

Harvey and Brad, what's a good day the weekends of either June 20th or 27th to come out and do a photoshoot of your warbirds for Volume II?

Louis,

I'll check with Harvey. It would probably have to be the 20th as I'll be in Ireland on business the weekend of the 27th. However, I could drop off the warbirds with Harvey and pick them up after I get back.

Follow this thread over the next couple of days - Kevin will be posting a link where you can view the first few pages of, and purchase, the next Volume of the King & Country Book.

I looked at the book yesterday and this will be THE book on K & C glossy. It is beautifully photographed by Kevin and handsomely written by Louis. Instead of scurrying to the brochures, you will be able to consult this book. An invaluable reference book. This will, in my view, appeal to all glossy collectors.
