King & Country Museum Under Construction (1 Viewer)

Louis it takes quite a bit to impress me but your private collection/museum is very impressive. Those cabinets from Bombay sure do look good. Might have to get a few. I especially like the smaller display boxes on top of them. Great idea to expand the limited display area on the top of the cabinet.

Louis-a stunning display of history in miniature. I look forward to the upcoming book & perhaps an interactive DVD of the "L.B." collection!

I'm going to make a DVD of the symposium, primarily for the benefit of Chuck Harris, whose health prevents him from attending. If somebody knows how to make this sort of thing available on line, I will certainly provide a copy, so everyone can have a look.

Louis - Depending on the length of the DVD we may be able to put it in Flash and put it on the web site. I'd have to look into how much space that would take up. Perhaps if the DVD is edited down a little to 'cut to the chase?'

It may not be a bad idea to actually make one now so Chuck and others could see what the collection looks like without people since people tend to obscure portions of the collection and it may be more meaningful in the long run for people to see the complete unobscured collection.

Perhaps we could just get a 'virtual tour' of Louis' collection if someone has a digital camcorder there. That would definitely be short enough to put on the web.

Louis,

I, like everyone else, am very impressed. Congratulations on a job well done! I know you will enjoy it a lot. A virtual tour available on the forum is an excellent idea. I would love to see that!

Louis Your collection looks great as does your museum.

You should look into a photo bucket account, you can upload pictures and video onto it for free and then just post a link to the video and every one could check it out.

Awesome job Louis. Looks like a good place to kick back with a good cigar and a drink and admire your collection.

Hi Louis,

What will be the main topics of discussion at the Symposium this year?

I wish I was going to be in NYC this year so I could drop in and see the collection in person but unless the Yankees make the Series I really doubt I'll be able to convince my wife that I need to go there.

Anyway the collection looks great!

I suspect that, for the first time visitors to my collection, there will be alot of talk about the history and development of K&C, which Andy can illustrate using my displays, and which may result in some sneak peaks at the text of the book for specific dates and details.

A big topic of conversation will undoubtedly be everyone's wish list, particularly with regard to the new special and factory production warbirds, and Gordon's exceptional new K&C diorama venture.

Then of course the suprises, prototypes Andy undoubtedly will have brought to the Westcoaster and the Symposium, and K&C's plans for the upcoming year. In addition, this year as Rick's dad, the founder of Figarti will be coming, I'm sure we can expect more of the same from the honored competition (if I could only get Anna from Honour Bound to come, it could really develop into something extraordinarily interesting!).

But underneath all the specific topics, the real point of the Symposium is the friendships that develop or grow. Like minded folks with common interests, getting the chance to spend three days chatting about what they love. I can't wait to see Andy, Gordon, Bill Sager, Tim Tyler, Ed Pijuan (Halomeeps), Brian Weyert (Warbuff), Bruce Whitman, Pete and Shannon, and all the other friends I only get to see at the Symposium or the Chicago Show. I also look forward to making new friends. Last year's Symposium permitted me to meet Kevin Elliot (Pandagen), whose wonderful "Monty-Pythonesque" sense of humor immediately kindled a fast-friendship between us. I wish everybody on the forum could come!

It's offical...I'm in...booked my flight today. I have to go see this place that Louis put together for myself. Hope to see a lot of you there!

The little woman and I have been hanging swords, banners, antique prints, antique maps, photos and K&C paras in the act of parachuting in the museum all morning. I hope to have all of the decorations up by tonight. If so I'll send a few photos to Brad so you gentlemen can have a look at the finished product.

Tony Neville and his lovely wife Jane will be by tomorrow as the first visitors to the fully completed museum, and Hans, Brad and a gentleman from England named Clive (who watches, but does not yet post on, this forum) will be by Thursday for a pre-symposium look.

Clive is probably known to some of you in the UK. On ebay, he's targa34. He's a real good guy. Sorry Clive, your secret is out.

Very nice guy indeed.Hopefully will start posting soon
