King & Country Museum Under Construction (1 Viewer)

Hello Louis - Tim Tyler introduced me to you in Chicago last year. I do not know if you recall , I had my nine year old son with me as you might recall. I think Lawrence Lo was with you too at the time...I just wanted to say I really have enjoyed watching your project develop. I showed it to my the other day and she was equally impressed. She said .."...well if we move and buy another house...We can get a toy soldiers room too.." hmmmmm.

Best Wishes on your "Grand Opening". I spoke to Tim the other day and asked him if he was going to the symposium and he said yes. I look forward to learing of his first hand account of your project.

Regards....Greg
This sounds like a classic ambush. Walk carefully my friend I think this path is mined.

Dear Greg,

Yes, I remember you and your son. It is very nice to hear from you. Anytime you come into town it would be my pleasure to show you the museum. Tim is a good friend, and I am glad you will get a report on the opening from him.

Warmest regards,

Louis

Well, while the new server isn't up, so this message will be lost, I am proud to say that as of this evening, the heating is in, and all actual construction work is completed. Only painting, carpeting and upholstering to go, which will commence either Friday or next Monday. You have to see the room to believe it. John, the carpenter, did an amazing and creative job covering those ugly black pipes. I can't wait for the new server so I can post some more progress shots. I think I can state with confidence that the museum will be completed on time!

I just sent Brad 5 photos of the final actual construction work (including a shot of John, as requested) and 10 photos of the room, all actual construction completed, ready for painting, upholstering and carpeting. I asked him to post them once the server issue is rectified.

Looks like we lost those shots of the completed room sans paint Brad had posted. Maybe he can post them again. Well, we had our first minor setback today: I was a bit displeased by the painters work/progress so far. Tomorrow is another day, and I hope Lou and Hector will get everything back on track.

Since the posts have been lost, I can repost the photos but since I didn't save the emails, I don't have the descriptions, which is the complete reverse of earlier posts: descriptions but no photos and I didn't save the photos.

Well, I have to say, Lou, the GC, got right on top of my dissatisfaction, and has proposed a solution for the problem, which is already being implemented. By tomorrow, I suspect we will be right back on schedule. Painting is ongoing (with the delay for the solution to the problem). The upholsterer is scheduled for Monday, and I am calling tomorrow to try to schedule the carpet installation for next Wednesday.

NAPOLEON ROOM ?

  :D

I'll tell you what, you can name one of the storage areas behind the knee walls the Napoleon Storage Room (or St. Helena, if you prefer). I keep trying to tell you Ron, Napoleonics are not my bag, baby. I have the old glossy K&C ones from 1993-1995, and the limited edition ones from last year, but that's it. Talk to Hans if you want to see Napoleonics.

This is a shot of John, the highly skilled carpenter/cabinet maker, hard at work. You can see one of the ugly black pipes the plumber said he couldn't move, which John had to figure a way to encase.

This is a shot of the "end table" John built me at the edge of the front banquette to enclose the airconditioning ducting.

John came up with this as a clever solution to the pipe problems: a bar platform on which I can store alcohol and glasses.

Another view of John's solution to the ugly black pipe problem. It sure beats a faux chimney!

John also decided to encase the support beam in attractive wood.
