King & Country Museum Under Construction (2 Viewers)

The painters are hopefully finishing up today. Once they are done, I will take some shots of the painted room and e-mail them to Brad to post for me. The upholsterer will be coming Monday, and the carpet will be installed either Thursday or the following Monday (the 19th). I will take some shots of the upholstered Banquettes on Monday, and then the completed project pre-installation of my collection as soon as the carpeting is in.

I got the Thursday carpet installation appointment. That means the rooms will be done Thursday, and installation of the museum's contents commences Friday.

So how long do you think it will take you to fill the museum with your collection Louis?.It must be a huge job.I know just emptying and re filling my three cabinets takes ages.Hope it goes well for you

Rob

Rob,

Even starting next Friday, and getting some help from Brad, Larry and maybe Hans, getting the whole collection moved up and installed is still going to be a very close run thing, especially since I haven't even found the three Library Tables I need yet.

The painters couldn't finish today, and will be back in the morning to finish the trim (which is being painted a glossy white).

Can't wait to see the photos when its finished. Its going to be very special indeed and a great reward for all your effort.

I share your story about your wife and proposal with my finacee - Kirsten yesterday on a drive up to Gettysburg. She said, I could take her to a LONDON - TOY SOLDIER SHOW anytime :D

But, she still wants to get married in the Carribean. She is enjoying our stories very much.

I have ten curio cabinets to assemble and load in the coming weeks. My plan is to have the ten curio cabinets against the side knee walls (originally I thought 5 on a side, but with the bar platform and chimney along the right side facing rear, I thing I will split it 6 on the left, 4 on the right), three library tables down the middle with dioramas on them, dioramas also on the rear platform and the office diorama platform, and a large RAF Airfield diorama on the big platform in the aircraft room. I also have a nice adjustable round table with flaps that will hold my Northwest Frontier Fort being attacked by Afghans with the old glossy Seaforths, Indian Army Camel Corps and K&C Field Force (Indian Army and Royal Artillery Field Guns and Maxim Guns with crews & Indian Army medics). In addition to the K&C stuff, I have two large Trophy boats (in plexi glass cases with wood bases), several Figarti armored vehicles, some winter Honour Bound stuff and a bunch of Heco tin aircraft and vehicles that I will be displaying. The rest of my collection will remain in storage behind the knee walls or end up as gifts to friends (Hans has already been given the vast majority of my Trophy stuff, but I still have a bunch of other Imperial, Frontline, Britains, Toy Army Workshop, Tommy Atkins, etc.).

Hi Louis,

I am sure you have answered this question before so please bear with me, what are the dimensions of your curios? I am looking for something that is about 3 feet tall and have not found anything that I like yet. Also are the shelves wood or glass mirrored illuminated etc. I am really looking forward to seeing the finished space.

Hi Dave. If memory serves me correctly, these are the curios that Louis posted http://www.bombaycompany.com/gp/pro...44454?ie=UTF8&bmBrand=outlet&m=A2Z4DUPX2Z8M59

I got lucky. Because I ordered them in December, during the Christmas special offer period, I got free shipping. They were shipped directly to my house (there were ten big boxes on my porch when I got home one day). I have not assembled them yet (the boxes are stacked in my dining room). However, I assembled one in the past, and it wasn't that difficult.

Brad (Jazzeum) and his family are coming to my home on Saturday. Our wives are going to have a girl's day out while Brad, his son and I start installing the museum. I hope to have moved the curio cabinets up to the museum and maybe assembled by the time they arrive.

Hi Guys,

That looks like a good fit for what I need and I have a Bombay Company around here so I might get lucky and find it so no shipping. Thanks for the link. Looking forward to the pictures of the room!

All the best

Dave

I have a curio from bombay I bought back in 2001 - it is close to what you have with a light inside and full wood top.

I will be interested to see how much light comes in with the glass top. Are you going to put in lights?
