Hi Louis,

Very nice work. Are the banquettes going to be used for storage for all the boxes or will it house alternative sets that will be out for special events or times of the year? Also will they be upholstered or have cushions?

Looks great and I really am looking forward to seeing the finished display area as well as the displays

Dave

Dear Dave,

The Banquettes are being completely upholstered. I hope to have all of my K&C out on display, along with a couple of Trophy boats, my Figarti vehicles, some winter Honour Bound pieces and some Heco Tinplate aircraft and vehicles, and to use the storage spaces behind the knee walls and inside the Banquettes for non-displayed items and boxes. The upholsterer already has the removable bench seats to work on, and is coming next Monday to do the bases of the banquettes and install the upholstered seats.

Regards,

Louis

I'll tell you what, you can name one of the storage areas behind the knee walls the Napoleon Storage Room (or St. Helena, if you prefer). I keep trying to tell you Ron, Napoleonics are not my bag, baby. I have the old glossy K&C ones from 1993-1995, and the limited edition ones from last year, but that's it. Talk to Hans if you want to see Napoleonics.

Louis

There is always hope that you will join us on the fields of France. :D

I must say these photos are great - it looks like this project is moving at break neck speed. I mean you have accomplished alot in a very short period of time. I really do look forward to seeing it in March.

And, I am sure your collection will only make me want to expand my own.

Ron

Hi Louis,

I am looking forward to seeing the completed seating, what did you choose for the upholstery, cloth or leather? Super job so far and cant wait to see the completed area!

All the best

Dave

To upholster the banquettes I chose a cloth tapestry in various shades of green and tan with a touch of bugandy, depicting a 19th Century English Fox Hunt. The carpet is dark green and the walls are being painted "fresh butter", a color in the tan family, both shades drawn from the colors in the tapestry.

What NO FRENCH BLUE ??

Well, the fresh butter paint is all on, now just the gloss white trim has to be painted.

Louis

Really - a little FRENCH BLUE will give the room a conquering feeling...:D

Although be careful about buying from The Napoleon home furnishings range-wasn't his wallpaper a bit dodgy?!

Rob

Would make a great train room. As to the pipe, we would have hid it behind a factory chimney or a redwood tree prop........Michael

I don't think that Napoleon Blue would match my yellow Gordon Highlander Regimental Drum and Banner. For you Napoleonic fans, however, among the 10 antique swords I am hanging on the walls as decorations is a really nice 1808 Issue British Rifle Company Sword Bayonet I bought at the last Chicago Show from Bill Hurlbutt.
