When Andy used to come to Louis' Symposium, he, Gordon and a few others would visit a great hobby shop near Louis' house that had everything and invariably he or Gordon would buy something. They also had a great aircraft section, all brands and scales and, of course, prices. They had a Corgi Mosquito that was stunning in 1/32 that was not cheap. Many of us would look at it but never pull the plug.

That's certainly good fortune on the shipping. Jumblies sometimes has good auctions on American-themed subjects as well. Conversely, if you want to buy UK/CW types in diecast, then the USA is probably the better source (price-wise). I've come across several Australian collectors that've complained about dealer-pricing down there. However, I don't know if the same applies to your TS dealers. I certainly hope that's not the case, as you gentlemen display such enthusiasm for your hobby.

ACE-21(S) is another wonderfully conceived and executed model. It's kind of amazing how consistent Jenkins has proved to be in its quality of manufacture. There's at least one TS-maker that I can think of which would benefit mightily from adopting JJD's approach to producing model airplanes, particularly as regards quality issues and its packaging. BTW, one of the best things about posting to the Jenkins' forum, here, is that posters can remain so unabashedly positive about the models, vehicles and figures that they collect. "Rumor has it" that the next edition to the KotS line of model airplanes will make its debut at the Chicago Toy Show. We shall have to petition a participant for photos and such.^&grin

I posted earlier today regarding my belief that the more sets that I add to a Jenkins KotS display, the better. I added a fourth and fifth figure to my "plane handlers" today. Both belong to BGC-19 and are the rightmost figures below:

As I've stated in the past, the sets are just fine purchased as standalone pieces for display with a model airplane of the appropriate scale. However, they really pop as additional sets are added. I find it interesting that Jenkins has never offered a group of figures like this for sale as a single set, ones so obviously meant to be displayed together. Then again, the manufacturer may realize that slugs like me can only afford to buy one or two figures at a time.:redface2:

Nice display Moe . . . . I haven't acquired BGC-19 yet but I do have BGC-17 and BGC-18 pushing and pulling Billy Bishop's Nieuport. BGC-19 is on my want list and hopefully it won't be too long before I can add these 2 figures to help with the Nieuport.

This time the subject changes. Here we're looking at Jenkins' maintenance sets. They are nice individually, but I really prefer them in congregation. There are five sets above, and a single figure from a sixth. The hangar and model are extra!:wink2:

Worthy of note in the image above is the omission of a figure from the Chocs Away Starter Set. I've never been able to find a context for him in the type of display above, so I deploy him with the maintenance personnel. The Padre (aka The Chaplain) is a nice option in many a Jenkins' WWI vignette, so you can't go wrong there. On the other hand, the RFC Sergeant, "Flight Sergeant Crumm" I've named him, is pretty much a necessity in any well thought-out KotS display of BGC sets.

Dog gone you Moe . . . . I had planned on passing on the "Chocks Away" sets . . . . . they look so nice in this photo that I am now re-thinking this. This has really been a very nice series of photos showing the three different ground crew arrangements (pushing & pulling, mechanics at work, chocks away) that JJD offers for their Allied aeroplanes. Definately adds alot of life to a dispplayed aerodrome dio. The German ground crew figures are every bit as nice too . . . .

Hi Mike,

Realistically, I doubt that Jenkins ever expected that collectors would go out and buy ALL of this stuff. Rather, I suspect that his strategy was simply to provide us with a nice, deep selection of sets to choose from. At that, he's certainly succeeded. When I consider the quality of what's been produced, the comprehensive nature of the BGC sets strikes me all the more remarkable.

I don't recall seeing that pic before, so thank you! As for myself, I believe that I was introduced to the figure through this image posted on Jenkins' website:

The reason that I've declined to use "him" that way is because I've never been able to adequately discern what the figure is looking at.:redface2: BTW, it's also possible to position the figure in such a way that's he's holding the left wing down. This would be perfectly plausible were a good breeze blowing in from the aircraft's ten o'clock. Can't have it going airborne until the pilot is ready!
