If anyone is interested, I just got of the JJD UK site and they apparently still have the Kempf triplane and Rickenbacker Spad still available for sale. -- Al

Hi Al,

It appears that all of the KotS sets are for sale there, even those cited as retired or sold out (on the other site). The sets have been listed on JJD/UK as long as I can remember. However, I don't think that the retired items could be added to the "shopping cart." That appears to have changed, at least as of thirty minutes ago. On a slightly different note, a few figure sets such as BvS have reappeared at dealer sites, even though they had been cited as SO previously. That's really all that I know about it. Would love to learn more from an official source.

Okay, I think that I've got part of this sorted. The JJD/UK website will allow me to add items like the Kempf tripe to the shopping cart. However, if I click on the link to the model details, it's shown as out of stock! However, I still can't explain why some items like BvS that were previously cited as SO have reappeared with dealers. This could be something as simple as a listing error. I simply don't know.

Hi Moe,
Can't speak about other sets, but BVS was re-released in the October 2014 releases.

That's too bad. Don't see the reason for listing the plane as available until you go through the trouble of placing the order. Seems a waste of time and an unnecessary disappointment. If one wants to carry the picture of the aircraft in the sales area, then a simple OOS listing would save the drama, at least it seems so to me. -- Al

Hi Pete,
You are correct, sir!:salute::

However, the "other website" indicates that ACE-X is SOLD OUT:

http://www.johnjenkinsdesigns.com/knights.htm

I realize that JJD is a TS company, not web-gurus or e-tailers.

That said, it would be helpful if its staff would reconcile the two sites.

For the uninitiated, these are the links to Jenkins' official Internet presence:

Hi Al,

You know, I think that the interface has been configured like that for a long time, years perhaps. I believe that I can recall being surprised to see the Kempf model still for sale there:

http://jjduk.co.uk/index.php?route=product/search&filter_name=kempf

As I mentioned, you can add the model to the shopping cart from that page.

However, if you click on the link to the model details, it's shown as "Out of Stock:"

http://jjduk.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&filter_name=kempf&product_id=300

In traditional JJD parlance, it's my understanding that "Out of Stock" meant that a set was subject to additional production. On the other hand, a model that's depicted "Sold Out" is what other most of us would characterize as being "Retired."
Confused, anyone?^&confuse{sm2}

Almost a full year since the last JJD aircraft release. Good thing I have been kept busy with all the excellent French WW1 releases or I might feel neglected.:rolleyes2:^&grin But I am missing my airplane fix. The Eindecker has been shown but no delivery date as of yet. Still missing a Spad, Fokker triplane, and a possible Naval Camel. Lots of stuff coming. Maybe in the December releases... -- Al
2015 is here and still no aircraft releases. Been 13+ months since the last one. What's it going to be, John? Which will be first? Eindecker? Camel? Spad? Tripe? Perhaps something of a surprise nature? -- Al

I vote for a WWI Float plane . . . . or perhaps an airplane with RNAS markings . . . . .
:smile2: Mike

Happy New Collecting Year to all.

I know it's not falling to far from the tree but I'd like to see a Sopwith Pup. I think the RNAS used them against coastal targets.

Did not Junkers manufacture a floatplane that was used on the Austrian lakes? I'm sure I talked to John about it way back when the London show was still at the National.

Regards all

Sherri gave me Lt Werner Steinhauser for a Xmas gift:

Poor gal didn't realize that Werner's stuffed animal came perforated. When I handed it to her so that she could admire JJ's work, she asked me if it was defective. "Nah," I responded, "Tommy just put a hole in Teddy!"

Really nice looking little scene, Moe. Great shot of the tripe. -- Al

Thank you Al,:)

Steinhauser's tripe is an awfully fine little model. I'm also partial to the Weiss, Udet, Kempf and LvR replicas. Oddly enough, my east favorite liveries are those found on my Jacobs and Richthofen versions. Just a personal preference. Can't really explain why.

BTW, Santa also delivered the "Marne Taxi" and driver figure sets this year. With the Steinhauser set, I'm all caught up on KotS. Hopefully, that doesn't last very long!

I understand about the favorite and least favorite color schemes. I have the same problem. I find the Udet tripe the most striking. Impossible not to be drawn to the b/w stripe scheme. Also really like the Kempf, LvR, and Steinhauser schemes. My least favorite is, like you, the Jacobs tripe, followed by the Weiss. Still, the Red MvR tripe is my favorite. Always has been, always will be. Grew up with that all-red tripe in story and models. If I could keep just one WW1 aircraft, the Red Baron tripe would be it. Not very original, I know, but it is decades of attachment to me.^&cool I wouldn't mind the tripe of Paul Baumer if John saw fit to do one.:wink2: -- Al

Great looking scene you created Moe . . . . . I also received Lt Steinhauser for Christmas . . . nice figure , ,

The JJD planes are terrific. I had someone offer me an old K & C wooden one and I turned him down because of John's. I have three others mounted on stands.

While we wait for new models from Jenkins, thought I'd post some pics of the "Billy Bishop Nieuport," aka ACE-02. It was one of the first model airplanes to emerge from JJD and it's a dandy:

Hangar, figures, backdrop and mat sold separately. :wink2:

The Bishop Nieuport was my first JJD aircraft, if my memory serves me correctly. I was just having a look at JJD's existing stock from his website and most of the plane and pilot combos are now Sold Out. Of the 18 aircraft JJD has issued, only 4 are still in stock, all listed as Low in Inventory. They are Ace06, the Ball Nieuport; Ace10, the Brown Camel; Ace14, the Barker Camel; Ace 21, the Steinhauser tripe. Of the 18 pilots that go with the planes, only 4 of those are left, as well. They are Ace10P, Roy Brown; Ace 16P, Rickenbacker; Ace19P, Weiss; Ace21P, Steinhauser. Brown and Rickenbacker are listed as Low Inventory while Weiss and Steinhauser are relatively new. Many of these SO units are probably still available in the dealer system, but many are not. JJD's air force is in need of reinforcement as it is now 13-14 months since the last aircraft release. -- Al
