Hello everybody....I wanted to ask: isn' t it bothering for you to see during all day a nazi parade in your home? I understand it is choreographic...But so many nazi flags, little Hitlers, his butchers...I collect waffen ss fighting, and I have one LAH for the uniform, but.....My question is not a provocation, I am really curios...

To answer your question, "Nope, it doesn't bother me at all since I see it for what it is.".... a huge visual propaganda piece. The same way I see certain countries today who practice from the same script book. It does make one wonder if in fact we have learned anything from this past history?

Well, the main structures are made of plywood. Which is easy to encrave the stone effect using a metal ruler and a scriber. Almost all parts where found in my local DIY store. That was the great part building the Luitpold Hall: its in fact a very simple design but looks great when assembled.
The Flags were just printed with my new laser printer, cut, folded and glued together. The flag poles are made of brass, stronge enough to support flags made of resin or other materials.
Each door is made out of 8 pannels, which where casted in resin after making a template. Because I couldn't find references of the original door design, I just copied the doors they installed in other buildings around the Zeppelin Field.

Simple answer: No, it doesn't bother me at all. In fact, most of my TS collections showing "peacefull" sceens, such as parades and dancing egyptian girls :smile2:.
I rather have them marching and not killing each other. The flags and the symbols are just the signs they used in this time. And for me they just look good. (By knowing the history)

I have a decent (ish) sized LAH collection and, it does not bother me at all as Oliver has said. as many have said when I was posting my LAH early on and saying I was a nazi for collecting etc I think asthetically the parade series looks good, as many others must do when you hear about the sales and, the sizes of the collections around.

I know the history behind the nazi's and their coming to power but, I think the does it bother you goes too far in relation to the parade stuff. I make no distinction between the parade figures representing the SS and the Waffen SS figures. If you can't stand one and take it to that level how can you have the Waffen SS sets in your home? They, in that manner, still the epitomy of that regime.

If K&C make a full blown range of coldstream guards I would also heavily collect them and, I suppose some could say why are you collecting them as you are supporting the Empire and some of the darker things we did to other countries. Its History it happened and we as historians and collectors of associated products should accept that

I enjoy and collect the LAH figures for the parade effect and how they look. I think most draw the line between parades and ideals.

Poppo, As others have already said, the LAH range has an undeniable and striking visual impact. They look good, and I'm pretty sure most of us here are historians first and foremost and are not collecting LAH for political reasons. Having said that, my wife does not like them and would not be happy if I decided to display them publicly in our home. She's ok with Waffen SS in combat with the Russians and Zulu War figures though. I think the context in which they are displayed is important. I'd have thought an LAH display alongside a WW2 combat diorama could be quite thought provoking. Its history, it happened. Displaying them alongside a portrait of Hitler would say something entirely different.

The building parts are made of wood and the flags are just printed paper. Because I had to make 20 flags I went for the easy way.

It is a real masterpiece of modelling....And a perfect copy of the original!!!!! You should open your own diorama company as what you did is better than what actual manufacturers do....

There is something very ominous in a 'calm before the storm' kind of way that makes this diorama very powerful and, I think, just as legitimate as a battle scene. The iconography is very sinister and the implications dreadful but I'd happily display such a scene, especially one as well made as this.

Agreed. You should think about undertaking commission work Oliver - although shipping costs could be an issue !

Its typical German backpack. It has ground cover sheet, food canteen bread pack water bottle etc and, was used many times when the LAH were on parade both for ceremonial duties and, in general day-to-day duties. Only pic I have to hand is of 1st Kompanie in greatcoat but, you can clearly see the packs. It would be nice to see the LAH with usual black pouches and webbing but, I understand why K&C do it

Thanks for your reply Mitch. The backpack is interesting, its just the textures and colour combination struck me as odd at first glance. It looks a bit like an inflatable tent!

And of course, I meant to say LAH not SS in my post!
