Yo Scott, the Southerners have all the fun:rolleyes:.
Bernard.

Somewhere between 2-10 inches bearing down on Gettysburg this weekend. The weather folks are having a tough time calling this one. Maybe a foot in DC where they can't handle more than half an inch without the city shutting down. Should be fun for the holiday shoppers and travellers.
Only upside to this storm is it's timing. It will hit on the weekend. Much more fun when snow hits D.C. during the workweek. Traffic jams can last for daaaaaaaaaays. A 20 minute commute becomes an 8 hour commitment.:D Ahh, D.C. in the snow. Just a hint of living hell.:D -- lancer

Turns out it was quite a storm for the Maryland / Virginia area. Well over a foot of snow and high winds for areas with very little snow removal capability. My wife and her sister have been stuck in a hotel in Lynchburg since Friday night with no immediate end in sight. While up here in the frozen north, it is basically just cold.

Here in Germantown, Md. we ended up with 22 inches. Much the same all across Montgomery County. We really got slammed. Good thing I had the fore sight 27 years ago to have a son who is now digging out the car! A great day to watch football. Stay warm, all. -- lancer

We got bombed as well,at least 2 feet.I just spent the last 2 hours digging out my truck and making some paths around the house. We are not use to this much crap down here.Lost over $250 as we were suppose to work yesterday (we left early) and today (cancelled). What a bummer.

Yo Troopers, sounds pretty bad over there, a lot without electricity as well, when you think the USA is the leader of the free world, think they would have that problem sorted by 2009. I mean Ireland is hundreds of years behind so you expect that problem here lol. Anyway guys the main thing is stay safe. BTW we had a good 1" of snow today lol, nearly gone now.

Man did we get hammered here last night; 24 inches at least. THIS is one of the many reasons I live in a condo, didn't have to do a thing this morning other than clear the snow off both of our vehicles, I''ll never complain again about a raise in the condo fee, worth every cent on a day like today.

Good day to stay inside, watch football and admire toy soldiers..................

George,

We only got 15 inches, but I had to dig out a driveway about 90 feet long by 9 feet wide plus a 20 foot by 15 foot turn-around, all by hand with a shovel, because we had to get to a family holiday party by 2:30 p.m. I started at 8:30 a.m. and finished at 1:30 p.m. Every joint in my body is sore, but we had a great time at the party, so it was worth it.

I think we may have received about 1 inch total so far, we had some Saturday but it melted slighty then a dusting over night last night. :)

Forget about toy soldiers for Christmas, Santa needs to drop off a snowblower for you (or a plowblade for one of your vehicles); man that is some workout..........................

Got about 22 inches here in Reisterstown Maryland.

Best "investment" I ever made was relieving my parents household of a 30 plus year old Snapper Snowblower. Small, but easily handles 7 plus inches of snow at a clip. Only cost was a few years ago, I replaced a lot of parts (Yes, the internet is wonderful, even found a new auger!). Best money ever spent. It started on 1 pull (no need to use electric starter), took me 3 times on Saturday, final swipe on Sunday, perfectly clear driveway.

Louis, invest in a larger model, well worth it even if used once a year!!!!

What's a Blizzard???? Please explain!!

Its cooled down here today, just managed to get to 32 deg.... Centigrade NOT Farenheit.

While all you 'lucky people' have a White Chritmas, and are tucking into all those lovely baked dinners, think of us 'poor souls' in the Colonies who have to endure the summer heat and only eat cold food.

Yes thats right COLD FOOD! Reason is its just too hot to put the oven on beacuse it heats the house up.

Please therefore consider us on Christmas Day having to eat cold Western Rock Lobster (crayfish) and Exmouth Bay King Prawns acompanyed with gormet salads, all washed down with a cold bottle (or 2) of Sparking Burgandy from the Barossa Valley, as the mercury rises to 36C deg temps, on the sunlit shores of the Indian Ocean.

:) :) :) :)

I'm going out tonight to buy one . . . which means, pursuant to Murphy's Law, no more snow accumulations in my neighborhood.:p
